What Caused our Economic Crisis

That needs to be seen everywhere. Spread it.

If I were the McCain guys I would use 50% of the
advertising money on spreading this.

Jodi, I have to say it was too painful to watch. I couldn't get past the "Fool me once" catastrophe.

Jeez, what a tool.

Yes; one of McCain's real-life outbursts that were the inspiration for the
parody video that Jodi posted.

Every time Fox has to do something like that I bet a little bile comes up in the news anchors throat. LOL

Take a drink every time Obama says "umm" and you''ll be unconscious before the first commercial break.

Take a drink every time McCain says "my friends" and you'll be well on your way...

Jodi, that may be my favorite Bush-ism, too. Either that or "Teach a child to read and....(long pause)...he can pass a literacy test."

I think Bush takes some hard knocks from you lefties. But even I have to say he ain't exactly Ronald Reagan or Barack Obama in the public speaking department. Someone once famously said his father was "born with a silver foot in his mouth," and W certainly has inherited that trait.

Speaking of saying dumb things, I heard another recent gaffe from Joe Biden. In an interview with Katie Couric, he said, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.' "

Two things wrong with that statement: 1. The stock market crashed in 1929 - four years before FDR became president; and 2. Television hadn't been invented in 1929!

Now, I don't think this is a big deal. I can't imagine how tough it would be to have every word you say videotaped, broadcast worldwide and scrutinized for the tiniest error. Obviously, he was speaking off the cuff and made a mistake. No big deal - it happens to everyone. Doesn't mean Biden isn't a smart guy, because clearly he is.

But if Sarah Palin makes the same mistake, I guarantee you that folks in the media would be playing this up as a big deal and saying, "See? She doesn't even know when the Great Depression started! She's too dumb to be vice-president!"

Agreed, and noted a few pages back Bruce!  She didn't help herself with Couric, but in fairness Couric did ask some "gotcha" questions.  I don't think keeping her from the media is helping her.  Of course the guys running the campaign are probably smarter than me so I could be wrong.

Edited to include link.

Bruce, you make a good point. But there's an expectation of intelligence at play. A person who has demonstrated they're smart can say something stupid occasionally and get away with it. A person who hasn't said enough smart things publicly to overcome the verbal gaffes gets labeled as stupid, and then the onus is on them to prove they have a brain. Some never rise to that challenge because they really are stupid. Bush strikes me as more air-headed than stupid, almost like he hasn't got a thought in his head at all. Palin hasn't got enough collateral built up yet to get away with stupid remarks.
