McCain keeps seeking the "high ground" of military parlance. He briefly seized it through Palin. I'm not sure he got it this time. At best, he's gained the support of those who are oppsed to the bailout plan. At worst, he'll be seen as an erratic, unpredictable man who can only add to the current chaos.

Jim Lehrer not exciting enough for you, Geoff?!

I was kidding.  I like Lehrer.  I don't think either candidate is particularly exciting debater.  Obama's already said he's going to talk about the economy.  Did you read Krugman today?  I was more disappointed than usual!

I'm going to conduct my own personal drinking game and slam down a shot every time McCain says "my friends." That'll make it interesting!

Missed the Krug today, though.

I'll do a shot every time he mentions he was a POW. I should be drunk by the end of the first 15 minutes.

Take a drink every time Obama says "umm" and you''ll be unconscious before the first commercial break.

I'll take an "umm" over "My friends" and "POW" any day of the week.

They can take our jobs, they can take our houses, they can take our stocks... but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Oh wait.

"Ummm" is a sign that the candidate is actually thinking about his answers
himself.

Nobody ever types "ummm" onto a teleprompter, nor recites it into an
earpiece.

I was going to make a comment about how Bush could have used a few more "umms" in his speeches, but then realized all the great Bushisms I would have missed out on over the last 8 years.

That and I'm not really sure he's capable of thought so it probably wouldn't have helped anyway.

Love his passion, love his use of the f-bomb but don't want him talking to the leaders of other nations.
