It's elite to have cars or houses? I would guess so if the one with the property was saying no one else can have them, but McCain has said no such thing.

No of course not. Most Americans have transportation of some kind, and Home ownership is of course one aspect of the "American Dream".
I do however think owning MANY houses and cars might make you somewhat elite.

Man I was listening to clips this morning on Howard of Letterman eviscerating McCain for pussying out of his appearance on "The Late Show" so he could race back to Washington and "fix" the economy and they were brutal. One line in particular--about how if he hadn't spent the last two years running for president and ignoring his Senate duties maybe we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with--had me nearly choking on my Pepsi. I don't think this whole "putting the campaign on hold/being above the fray" B.S. is gonna fool voters--at least I sure hope is doesn't!

Wait. Albert - you drink Pepsi in the morning? You know if you have to
have one before noon that that's a sign you have a problem...

Here is a nice link that explains the subprime mortgage mess very well."
Had a laugh. Good stuff.

Once again, late to the party here, but McCain's tactic of skipping out on and postponing the debate seems very obvious, considering his solution of moving the Presidential Debate to take the place of the Vice Presidential Debate:
The Republicans are still scared of Palin debating Biden.

I would also recommend a book called "Deer Hunting With Jesus" which has a chapter or two on the subprime mortgage fiasco... and clarified a lot of other issues for me as well.

Considering McCain wanted 10 debates and Obama would only agree to three, the idea that McCain is trying to avoid the debate is ludicrous. If any candidate was trying to avoid debates it's Obama. Foreign policy is Obama's weak point. Delaying the debate would only be to his advantage. I think he's just puffing his chest and posturing. McCain has given Obama a big leg up by suspending his campaign since Obama is going to continue to campaign.
So. 1. McCain will be doing what he was elected to do and serve the people in a time of Crisis. 2. Obama will have several additional days of campaigning that McCain won't have. 3. Obama would have more time to prepare for the foreign policy debate, the debate he was expected to do the worst with. 4. McCain knows that some people will think it's a political move and think less of him for it.
The tiny benefit McCain might get from this is that a few people will think more of him for it. The costs of the decision far outweight the benefits when it comes to his campaign. McCain's intent is obviously to do what's best for America first and worry about advancing his own political career later.

Let's keep in mind that is was the Republican side of the campaign that began the elitist dialogue. I really have never gotten that one. I do not know how you can pain Obama as an elitist, and the vast majority of politicians on EITHER side of the aisle as just plain folks.
