"How about in exchange for this bailout, firms must channel a significant portion of their future profits to social security, until every last penny is repaid? "
THIS was just sent to me. I like the idea.

Even with his disabilities, McCain would still be able to take Obama in a Death Match. Heck, even McCain would be able to out bowl Obama!
It would be even worse for Biden. No one with any sense would try to fight a woman. They just don't fight fair.

I am sad there will be no Hillary/Palin debate, thinking about it I just keep seeing a blow up pool of jello in there somewhere.
I'm sad it's not a Hillary/McCain debate. :P

Based on what we saw from Palin at the Republican Convention, I don't think we have to worry about Biden beating her up in a debate. She seems more than capable of firing back - don't forget her high school nickname was "Sarah Barracuda" for her aggressiveness on the basketball court. Biden should come out swinging, because I have no doubt that'll be Palin's strategy.
I agree that Biden would be a better VP than he is a candidate. He's known as an effective, experienced Senator, so he clearly knows how to get things done in Washington. However, that's his problem as a candidate - he comes off as an entrenched political insider who is perhaps too comfortable in a position of power.
And Jodi, if you want to see a Palin-Hillary debate, Saturday Night Live gave us a pretty good idea of what that might be like a couple of weeks ago! Tina Fey and Amy Pohler were hilarious as usual in that skit.

It really depends on the moderator and the forum of the debate. These dates there are no true DEBATES. They are more organized press conferences with talking heads asking questions of the candidates.
I agree. I'd love to see true town hall style, non-moderated debates where it's not just regurgitating talking points. Where they really have to think on their feet since they have no idea what will be asked. No softballs being tossed to them.

Yeah, if the campaign is decided at the bowling alley, Obama is in big trouble. What did he score, something like a 32? I think my two-year-old could beat that!
On the other hand, Obama undoubtedly could take McCain pretty easily on the basketball court. Here's a trivia note - Obama's personal assistant is a former basketball and football player at Duke University.

I'd prefer a debate modeled after Meet the Press. The candidates in a studio, without cheering sections, answering questions posed by a single moderator. Of course, I'd want Tim Russert. Think Luke could do it?
Town halls are okay but I'm generally suspicious of them because it seems an easy way for parties to bring in ringers to ask questions.

Maybe, Michael. I think Jim Leher could be good. Or Bob Schiefer.

Maybe they could do bumper ball where they have rubber bumpers in the gutter so the ball stays on the lane?

Ya know. Thinking about that, I don't think that's such a bad thing. That would be a true test of how they are under extreme pressure. If they can't handle a ringer asking a loaded question then they sure can't handle diplomatic pressures between nations.
