I think you should be a lawyer, lawyers have that respect and  love of law, that I think is so important.

Oh, I don't know.  There are plenty of lawyers who I would not want to see as president.  I don't think respect for the law is restricted to lawyers!  What I think is important for any politician to understand, especially a president, is that the consitituion protects the citzenry from the government.  It was not intended to be a road map for what the government can do to the citzenry!

As for qualification for President, I think both Senators are ably qualified to be president.  Whether I really want either of them at this point is a different question <g>.

A legal background certainly is an asset, but it shouldn't be a qualification to be president. Some of our most successful presidents, including Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, weren't attorneys.

Honestly, I'm not sure there is any job that truly prepares a person for being president. I imagine it's pretty overwhelming and intimidating, no matter who who are or what you've done.

It's a shame they can't suspend the father.

Nixon was a lawyer.

I am not saying being a lawyer is the only thing you need , but it is an important key to being good at that job.

A legal background certainly is an asset, but it shouldn't be a qualification to be president. Some of our most successful presidents, including Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, weren't attorneys

I agree but I really feel after the last eight years we need someone that has a respect for the law.

Honestly, I'm not sure there is any job that truly prepares a person for being president. I imagine it's pretty overwhelming and intimidating, no matter who you are or what you've done.

No Kidding.

Yes, I'm sure the ambulance chasing variety does that out of a love for the law.  :P
