" Interviews and a review of records turned up no evidence that Palin knew that rape victims were being charged in her town. But Croft, the former state representative who sponsored the law changing the practice, says it seems unlikely Palin was not aware of the issue. "

Was she the mayor of Wasila, Alaska or Kabul, Afghanistan?

The difference, Joe, is that the mayor of Kabul would not be caught dead in that storefront city hall that Wasila had...

Scott Richards, god help me but, once again we agree.

Al, Wayde, Boxing Day, as you two so crudely put it, is known here in the civilized world as the First Day of Kwanzaa.  Plus, my birthday.  But I prefer to think of it as the First Day of Kwanzaa - (The only holiday I kind of sort of enjoy.  Kwanzaa - not my birthday.)

PS - sarcasm alert - I know that many small town city halls look like that - I get it and I am, on purpose, playing the elitist hand - can't help it - I'm from San Francisco, where our city hall looks like...

You may recognize the inside of our City Hall - it was where Indy Jones storms out at the end of Raiders, and Marion offers to buy him a soda... seen here...

Unless Sen. McCain takes the gamble to do the right thing in opppsing the Treasury plan, I don''t know what they're really going to argue about.  Six weeks before the election, that isn't even remotely likely...so I suppose they'll wrangle over stipulations.  Everyone watching should have made up their mind on the candidates' healthcare and tax policies (both open to revision, now, but with regard to the general slant) before now.

McCain Transition Head Lobbied for Freddie Mac Before Takeover

"The lobbying firm of the man Republicans say John McCain has chosen to begin planning a presidential transition earned more than a quarter of a million dollars this year representing Freddie Mac, one of the companies McCain blames for the nation's financial crisis."

Mr Meyers - there's a lot of hope riding on the debates - the right hopes that Obama will freeze up as he tends to do in debates, or pull the typical boring democratic trick of giving long thoughtfull answers that aren't easy to digest zinger sound bites.  (That's what Biden is for!)  The left is hoping Obama can nudge McCain into one of his famous rage-induced temper tantrums.  Either way will be an admittedly crappy and under-handed win, but a win nonetheless.

Nixon's stubble and sweat seemed to help Kennedy...

Oh, and one last one before I retire...

I hate to put faith in polls - despite their ups and downs, I see Obama winning by a comfortable margin.. but this poll made me happy for a lot of reasons.
