"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

Keeping my family well falls under the above statement.

Which comes from the Declaration of Independence which is not law but should be viewed as our national spirit and the intention of what this nation is meant to be.

Palin may not have met many (or any) foreign heads of state. But as governor, I'm sure she's met plenty of foreign business leaders and officials from other governments who are involved in trade and commerce.

Which is what I was trying to say.  Cheers, Bruce!

Just about every governor is highly involved in international trade discussions -- probably far more than the average senator or representative.

Which leads me to wonder why this answer was not provided by Palin when asked about her "foreign relations" experience.  Surely she must have courted some international business as governor, right?

I'm sure she did, Geoff. I'd chalk that one up to a missed opportunity for Palin.

And while I'm a McCain/Palin supporter and believe Gov. Palin has injected a great deal of energy into this ticket, I have to say Tina Fey's "I can see Russia from my house!" line was pretty funny.

I'd lay the blame at her handlers, Bruce.  She was clearly coached (as she should have been) they should have drilled that response into her.  In that regard its a plus she has that she should articulate.

The Fey performance was great.

Where in the constitution does that belief fall under?

Generally speaking, in Article I and II, dealing with the enumerated powers of congress (such as to declare war) and the president as commander in chief.

Geoff quit being so smart! LOL

Seriously here is a lesson people, Geoff corrected my statement without being nasty, I actually listen to what he says.

I work in a hospital, frequently in critical care, and it is heart-breaking to see and hear how often the staggering expense becomes an issue.  There HAS to be a better way.

I went to get my shoulder looked at, I met with the doctor for 15 minutes, they charged me 350.00 . My insurance paid 125.00, My husband said that they do that because they know insurance will only pay a percentage. I asked what does those that have no insurance do? he said they get screwed.

I believe keeping my family well is my responsibility, not the government's.

Bruce I will hope you never have to deal with a catasrophic illness. A family I know they are both retired, worked all their lives, the wife has breast cancer and they just found out GM will cut the insurance for their retirees. They thought it would always be there what is your solution for them?

Geoff quit being so smart

I only know three things Jodi:

(1) I love my family;

(2) Don't touch your eye after eating buffalo wings; and

(3) Knibb High School Football rules.

Everything else is a guess.

Is the family eligible for Medicare, Jodi?  Often that can help fill the gaps.  Also hospitals are entitled (and encouraged) to work with under or unisured people to reduce what is owed by significant percentages (believing 10% received is better than 45% owed).  Its not solutions but maybe these ideas can help.
