I suppose that is a difference between Ireland and the US.

Make that Europe, David.

She's only been to Germany as far as I know

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Germany, Kuwait, Mexico, and Canada. Lincoln never visited another country and he did ok..

*****

The world is a very different place now. If you want to be considered leader of the free world (or their second in command), you need to be able to talk to other world leaders and know about their culture. One of McCain's plus sides, I believe he will be able to do that effectively.

In general, health care has worsened significantly with increased government intervention.

I agree and he is the poster child for experience does not equal ability or judgment.  That said the comparison is not entirely fair as the United States is a much larger world player in 2008 than it was in 1860. It is a very different world from the one Lincoln lived in.

Its not something you can leave to the markets. Health care should be treated differently from a business.

That's the increase in spending over the current budget not the total amounts. More is spent on health care than defense already.

Re:  David

Agreed.  But it should not be heavily subsidized by the government.

Really, how so and since when?  Medical care is better today than at any point in history.  The issue is access and delivery of health care not quality.

Geoff-

Health care professionals are attempting to see greater numbers of patients in shorter periods of time with decreasing efficiency.  Malpractice concerns as well as managed care issues have both complicated this problem enormously.

That Tax spending chart is a bunch of crap, where did they get those numbers, from what has been said on the campaign trail?  Geeez you don't think it's maybe done by a mostly republican group. They almost have McCain owing us money. This coming from a man that voted with Bush 95% of the time.  And we know how much government is spending under Bush.

We have a local Tax payers group just like this and the only people in it are republicans.

I looked at their other info and it is mostly anti-democrat. It goes back to the old myth republicans keep trying to feed us, that it is the Tax and Spend democrats. I have 8 years to prove that wrong.

I don't understand what you mean.  Can you elaborate?
