If all the other politicians jumped off a cliff, would she?

••

If she thought it would win her an election?

She would probably build a bridge...

She did much, much better than I was expecting

I was expecting her to do pretty good and I think she did really well.

Christopher I am so glad you set the bar for VP at "pretty good" , and you wonder why we, that think Palin is a joke, are worried about her being in office.

"Jonathan, got his brains from his dad,  all through school he got placed in the gifted and talented classes"

Reed Richards better watch out !

Yes but Reed took the path of fighting crime, Jonathan is using his power to become a movie director. (pounds head on desk) I come from a dyed in the wool democrat family and all of Jonathans life he kept out of trouble, the boy did not take his first drink of alcohol until college and still doesn't drink to this day. I had dreams of him becoming the democrats great hope, an honest, intellegent and caring guy. Something until Barack, they had been a little lacking.

Well I have always encouraged him to be a "free thinker"  and he decided being a lawyer just wasn't for him. He is going to try to be a director, boy that's a job with a lot of job openings (continues to pound head) LOL

Really I think he will do really well, he directed the summer HD movie and has been asked to direct the next movie, which he wrote. Ahhhhh but the dreams of President Moisan dies hard. LOL

Admittedly, the Gibson interview was painful to watch.  I've hired administrative assistants that interviewed better.  And while Gibson did ask some good questions, he seemed to back off any kind of follow-up question that would shed some light beyond her talking points.

So far, the best interviewer I've seen so far was Barbara Walters on The View.  While she also left some journalism on the table, she pressed McCain further than any I've seen so far.

Palin's next interview is, understandably, with Sean Hannity.

I also think McCain is going to win and I bet Obama is wishing he'd have picked Clinton as his running mate.  I don't care for McCain's policies but it looks like the Democrats have tossed another election to me.

Sean : Hello Governor Palin

Palin: Hello Sean

Sean: Oh....Oh....oh......oh god....oh god....yes!!!! yes!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!, excuse me does anyone have a kleenex?

I am not convinced the McCain/Palin ticket will win.

There was little indication either by polling or punditry to predict the last congressional election. There was however a sweeping sense of discontent with Republicans, bringing an end to their majority rule in the House and Senate.

This election will hinge on how much discontent remains in the electorate, particularly in the swing states. As the general red/blue division seen in the last election will probably hold form. It is more important for Democrats to remain motivated, energized and OUT there pushing numbers. With luck, Bob Barr will shave off enough McCain votes to pull a Ralph Nader. This is going to be very close.

However, it is sad that Palin's selection has altered the dynamic of the race in a way that the talking points are now more of personality than substance. We picked the last president in part because he seemed the more 'likeable' guy, someone you could have a beer with. Now we're cheering the soccer mom who backs those all-american ideals on guns, gays and Jesus.

The polls all said the republicans would lose big in the 2006 elections. Not sure how you missed that.

Oh for God's sake, doom, doom, doom. The sky is falling! That's a crock of shit. Hate Obama all you want, but returning the tax codes to levels before the Bush tax cuts won't destroy the economy. Nor will bringing the troops home mark the beginning of end times, or anything really, except the spirits of a bunch of democrats, and some whiners. We've gotten through a lot tougher times than this, and come out stronger for it.

Dave, how cute you've had your fill of hearing doom, doom, doom. And yet you have filled the forum with responses of how Obama's policies will bring an end to prosperity as we know it. -Being a little gloomy there aren't we?

We look at what is and see America on a wrong course. You look at what might be and see America on a wrong course. -But at least our 'wrong course' is actual.

Doom? How soon they forget that a vote for Kerry was essentially a vote for more terrorist attacks...

I expect it'll go something like this:

Hannity:  Governor, you've had quite a time of it since the convention.  Obviously, the left is doing whatever they can to smear you in any way they possibly can ... (starts counting off on his fingers) she's "too pretty", she's "not cosmopolitian enough", she's "just a woman", calling you "a pig with lipstick" ... (Palin will be smiling and nodding) ... are they just panicking now that the Obama campaign is in deep trouble and you and John McCain have all but won the election?

Palin:  Well, Sean, anything can happen between now and November.

Hannity:  C'mon, Governor ... I appreciate your modesty, but it's obvious ... every poll shows Obama is losing whatever lead the liberal media claims he had ... and let's face it ... (he'll start counting on his fingers again) ... he can't attack you on National Security experience because you've got more;  he can't attack you on actually governing; you've done it, he hasn't ... he can't even touch you on his big theme of "change"; you've taken on your own party, the good old boy network and the Washington status quo ... he's never done anything close.  Seriously, you don't see these attacks as acts of desperation?

Palin:  Sean, I can't comment on why the Obama campaign does what it does.  All I know is that John McCain and I want America to be the best America can be for all Americans.  We're committed to that.  We will not falter.  Thanks but no thanks.  And by the way, I sold the jet on eBay.  You can't blink.  Wait ... I mean, I won't blink.  And neither will John McCain.  He doesn't blink either.  We ...don't blink.

Hannity:  Well, you're certainly more gracious than the smear merchants at the Obama campaign.  Speaking of ... how do you feel about the dispicable treatment you received from Charlie Gibson during your first interview as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee?  You were clearly taking the high road, despite his relentless liberal biased hammering on issues so unimportant to the American people.

Palin:  Sean, I have the greatest respect for Charlie Gibson. I can see Good Morning America from my house.  He and I have a relationship that goes back to his Joan Lunden days ...

Hannity:  Again, I applaud your graciousness, Governor ... you're a class act.  But don't you think that his weak attempts at making you look foolish ... the "gotcha" moment with the Bush doctrine ... which nobody could've answered, and certainly not Obama ... don't you think these mean-spirited, disrespectful, blatently political ploys disguised as journalism, just make the Democrats look more desperate?  Seriously, given all the facts that are coming out now, what kind of morally depraved person would vote for Obama?

Palin:  Well, Sean ...

Hannity:  Nevermind, don't answer that.  If it's gotten to the point where the Obama Campaign needs their opponents to make a case for their candidate, that's all intelligent Americans needs to know.  Now, on the case of National Security ... something else Obama knows nothing about and has no experience in ... how far is Illinois from Russia?

Argh. Enough creative writing for today.  I felt my soul getting darker.

Maybe I've missed it in this juggernaut of a topic, but other than a few posts ago, haven't seen much made of how Obama gets softballs and Palin gets rocks.

Hell, Obama had an interview with George Stephanopolous (sorry, probably spelled that wrong) who worked in the Clinton administration. Obama made a goof about his muslim faith and the interviewer jumped in to save/correct him.

Chris Matthews gets a 'tingle down his leg' when Obama speaks.

Keith Oberman said that Palin sounded like Tracy Glick from the movie "Election" right after her speech.

***********

And the entire Fox News channel creams every time Palin's name is mentioned. What's your point?
