Bush is an idiot but he is also a puppet, the real planners of this whole mess are Cheney and Rumsfeld
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Since when does a puppet fire one of his masters over the objections of the other master?

The Brits (not the population but some of the people running the show in the UK) were really hot to attack Iraq. Does anyone remember the "sexed-up" (that is what the press called it) intel from the UK? Someone was killed exposing it (yeah, real spook and dagger stuff). Maybe the UK elite was/is still smarting from when the Iraqis tossed them out in the 1920s.
The Taliban are interesting. I see them as the children of Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Reagan called the Afghani mujahedeen "freedom fighters" when they were battling he "Godless commies" from 1979 to 1989. Then, as now, the West was attempting to encircle Russia (then the USSR) and in 1979 the Russians sent Jimmy Carter a message = enough. Zbigniew Brzezinski (Carter's NSC head) called this area of the USSR its weak underbelly and figured if "policy" was to encourage Muslim fundamentalists to rise up this had the potential to destabilize the Soviet Union. Brzezinski said so, he wrote about it, this was policy with a capital P. Brzezinski wanted the USSR to invade Afghanistan and told Carter this would be the Russian's Vietnam. He is quoted as saying this. Okay, fast forward to the Taliban. Who do you think these guys are? Osama got his feet wet in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation. He was there and in the same areas he is said to be hiding today. Pakistan was involved, Saudi Arabia, China, the US, etc. in arming and training the "holy warriors" to fight the USSR. So, in a sense, we created a Frankenstein monster that turned on us.
Do a bit of research if you don't believe me. I am talking off the cuff from memory. There is quite a bit of history (too much to go into here) but people should know the term "the Great Game" from school.
The Iranians are targets. They know it. They should change something because we say so? What should they do? Eat KFC? Starbucks? Give us their oil?

If we broke the ceasefire agreement and performed military actions we
shouldn't have in Iraqi territory, then yes, that would justify a
military reprisal. But that also would have been really stupid of
Saddam.
================================
During the 90's there were regular news reports about Coalition fighters blowing up Iraqi targets in the no-fly zone.
================================
The westernized democracy friendly to the US I was talking about was
Israel.The others, like Saudi Arabia and Egypt, are only as friendly
as they are forced to be.
================================
If you want another Israel, then settle more foreign, non-Middle Easterners in the Middle East. The locals would be upset, but their opinions regarding what happens to their own land and governments really haven't mattered since World War One.
Now if you want another Saudi Arabia, who hates us and yet cannot exist without us, yeah, invading Iraq was exactly the right thing to do.

Prime Minister Blair joined you, to the disgust and protest of many Brits. Bush/Iraq have made the US hugely - and I mean HUGELY - less popular over here.
Just Prime Minister Blair? I thought some Brits supported it, like other members of Parliment who must have voted about it or something, and some troops were involved too, my mistake. I didn't realize Blair was out there all alone. Luckily, England is still popular over here. We still like you, no matter who your leader is. I'm sure we'll always be there to support you in whatever you do.

Maybe because Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld fucked up there too. |
|

Did I make that sound rosy? The Taliban in charge was better, maybe. More troops because Iraq has settled down, we still need to get OBL, there's still pockets of resistance in Afghanistan (Taliban, insurgents, al-Qaeda), we still need to support the fragile democracy there, which has never been there before in the history of Afghanistan. Do you need more legitimate reasons, or would you rather just spew your anti-Bush rhetoric? Relax, he's only got a few more months in charge, and then everything's coming up roses.

So, whoever told me that Tina Fey was hosting SNL next week was wrong. James Franco is hosting next week. She did do the cold opening tonight with Amy Poehler, playing Sarah and Hilary.

Nothing will turn into roses when GWB leaves. He's destroyed the economy. He's destroyed America's international influence. It will take at least a lifetime to get back what he's lost.

Oh for God's sake, doom, doom, doom. The sky is falling! That's a crock of shit. Hate Bush all you want, but he hasn't destroyed the economy, or America's international influence, or anything really, except the spirits of a bunch of democrats, and some whiners. We've gotten through a lot tougher times than this, and come out stronger for it. I really hope Obama wins so you guys can come up with some new material,
