it is not the public education system's place to teach kids about the birds and the bees and everything that goes along with it.

While I wholeheartedly agree that morality is best taught in the home, the idea that every child in the country is going to learn the facts of human sexuality at home is absurd at the very least.

It is vital that our young people learn the truth about sexuality...what is normal, what is safe, what the dangers are.  If for no other reason than disease control.  This is not a morality issue, teaching human sexuality is a safety issue.

DOMA as a law angers me.  I'm not sure if I'm more angry that it was clearly targeting a specific group or that congress had the chutzpah to try to legislate away the full faith and credit clause!*

Nope, I know which angers me more.

*Thats not to a say an argument can't be made, either way, about its constitutionality.

I'm all in favour of same sex civil unions over same sex marriage. Marriage has religious connatations that I don't care about and some Christians get upset over. So civil unions can be marriage in all but name.

Okay then all things being equal.  Straights should only have civil unions. period.  and only those whose churches would allow it, can call themselves "married".  whoops, there's a problem...some churches support the idea of gay marriage, now we have some sets of each who are allowed to be "married" while others cannot based on what church they go to...Hmmmm... perhaps we should just let anyone who wants to, get married, get married.  and let the Church go stuff themselves.

First drawing on the page Obama / Mc Cain by a very talented French comics book artist, who mentioned in his caricatures the influences of Mort Druker.

My view is that marriage is a both a legal and religious arrangement.  If you want to get married in a church, God Bless (no pun intended there, I promise).  If you want to get married at city hall or the courthouse, thats fine too.  Government should not make churches marry homosexuals (just as a Catholic church shouldn't have to marry Jewish people if for some wierd reason jews wanted to be married by a priest in front of a crucifix).  But churches should not object if government allows homosexuals to marry in courthouses or city hall.  My simple sort of view of it.

John McCain's comic is drawn by Irish artist Stephen Thompson. I can't believe he and Obama are getting comics.

I simply replied to Scott because of his smarmy reply to me.

I'm sorry if you took me saying Palin wasn't running for President as smarmy.  That wasn't the tone I was thinking when I typed it.  I was thinking of it in a humorous way when I posted it.

Palin is running for President. The VP position is essentially a back-up, in this election more than ever.

Geoff, you outlined my view of the issue as well.  I was sitting here trying to figure out exactly how I was going to articulate it, and you went and did it for me. So thanks.

A marriage is a civil union.  The politicians who are "in favor": of gay civil unions butdon'tcallitmarriage are mouth-breathing, pearl-clutching pussies who should be shunned for it.

Sadly, that includes nearly every politician.  Gutless little shits.
