Wow. What a tool. Never seen this guy before, but he's more vitriolic than Limbaugh and O'Reilly ever was.

He jumps all over McCain because he says he can get Bin Ladin yet Obama makes the same claim and gets a pass. He's a delusional lunatic.

Chris, correct me if I'm wrong, but Obama has never made a statement as explicit as McCain's "I know how to do it and I'll do it" in regard to catching Bin Laden.  Obama has been critical of the failure to catch Bin Laden, and I think he's made general statements about how he'd make catching Bin Laden a priority.  But he's never guaranteed he will do it, nor implied that he has special knowledge or a secret plan how to do it, as McCain seems to be doing in his comments.  He's certainly never suggested that his opponent would be unable to do it.

Olbermann is overreacting I think.  Obviously McCain doesn't really have any secret plan that he's keeping to himself until the election is over, and Olbermann does go overboard with drawing attention to that point.  But at the same time, he's right that it's bullshit for McCain to say that.  He's using the old Nixonian "I have a secret plan to end the war" strategy.

Olbermann is certainly not any more vitriolic or partisan than O'Reilly or Limbaugh.  I'd say he's about the equivalent of O'Reilly, and less unyieldingly partisan than Limbaugh.  But I guess it's a matter of what one agrees with.  The opinion you disagree with always seems more strident, unthinking, and shrill, I suppose.  I like the fact that there are finally some voices like this emerging on the Democratic side... for too long it's been unbalanced IMO.

I believe the difference is that McCain (according to Oberlman) is saying that he knows HOW to get Bin Laden, and Obama says that we SHOULD make getting Bin Laden a priority. There IS a difference.

Obama is Jesus. Palin is Pontius Pilate.

Jason,

I'd agree that this guy is basically as partisan as Rush Limbaugh but on the opposite side; probably, both of their facts and accusations need to be taken with equal grains of salt.

But I just get the impression that Limbaugh realizes that he's primarily an entertainer, where Olbermann thinks he's supposed to be taken seriously.  Maybe Olbermann is more like a counterpart to Sean Hannity... John Stewart might be Limbaugh's opposite...

"Limbaugh realizes that he's primarily an entertainer"

Has Limbaugh acknowledged this, or is this your special sense of the man?

You wouldn't know it from the pathetic way Steve Cohen delivers it, but that Obama/Jesus and Palin/Pilate line is supposed to be a joke, aimed at Palin's silly attempt to make "community organizer" into a term less flattering than "child molester."  I think it's a clever line which turns Palin's silly point on its head in a way that churchgoers might easily understand.

I believe he's acknowledged it.  But it's also my sense of the show; his monologue is primarily made of jokes.  Partisan jokes, but jokes.
