Valerie, you do understand that if Pailin's appointments to the Supreme Court overturn Roe V Waid that it won't outlaw abortion, it'll turn it over to the states - and you know there's at least a dozen states that will never outlaw it.

What's your plan then?

Sometimes I don't like Dr. Phil, but I love when he says this:

"The best predictor of future behavior is relevant past behavior."

I think it is a perfect saying for those republicans that consider themselves "Bush Haters" and are now McCain supporters.

How is McCain going to be any different, if he says he agrees with Bush 95% of the time? How can you support a "95% like Bush" candidate?

Doesn't it also seem pretty low when they reduce troop levels right before an election? It seems insulting to me, to use the troops in this way.

How can you support a person that has asked "How to ban books" , Hitler banned books, communist China bans books, how do you put right in your mind that question?

Yes, but the books were UN-HOLY.

Everyone knows that demons hide in books.  Just by opening it, the demons fly out and get in your head, and plant sickness in your brain, and the next thing you know, you're thinking for yourself ...

Which is the work of SATAN!!

Executive Branch opposition/compliance to Congress should be one of the considerations for everyone when deciding for whom to vote for the office of president?

Hell, government spending is the only thing Michael Retour and I have agreed upon. That should be an indication of something.

More seriously, almost every year since 1969, our government has spent more money than was allowed for by the budget.  A deficit is NOT a necessarily "bad" idea.  Providing a healthy framework and managed correctly, a deficit (specifically, what it allows for) is as good a tool as any other in the fiscal toolbox.  But our national debt has long, long since crossed the line of what is appropriate and necessary to insure effective manipulation of a deficit window.  And the annual budget deficit only adds to that interest-laden national debt.

While it's true that the level of our public debt (government debt owed to others, foreign and domestic) as a percentage of real GDP is actually less now than it was during any of the Clinton years, the amount of debt owed to ourselves (intra-government...just flat out theft) as a percentage of our real GDP has done nothing but increase.  Currently, 25 other countries (Japan, France, Germany, etc) have a higher debt ratio than the United States and we sit relatively pretty, but this won't continue to be the case indefinitely.  And it hampers productivity, now.

BTW, the "surplus" was mentioned by Jodi.  I've applauded President Clinton in the past for supporting the idea of a balanced budget and items like PayGo (currently a campaign promise for Sen. Obama), but it should be remembered that this was a budget surplus only.  Though declining as a percentage of GDP against a rising GDP, our national debt remained extant.

Mike, what is the Education ad all about? My wonderful Chinese overlords have blocked most if not all streaming video and proxys don't always let them through.

Please, if I may be so bold, allow me to answer the issue of Governor Palin once and for all.

the first part of this week, the McCain/Palin ticket was here in Kansas City for a speech, and the news showed Governor Palin and her husband at Arthur Bryant's BBQ, where all Presidents and presidential hopefuls go when in town.

And Governor Palin, at least as it appeared on the news, ordered chicken.

I'm getting an Obama sign today.

Thank you.

My husband is the CFO of an international company and has one of the best financial minds that I know . And considers himself an independent. He thinks since Bush Sr. and the republicans have become a joke on the line of being the "fiscally responsible party".

Here is what cracks me up about the McCain campaign, that man should really learn to use the "internets".  His campain is making a big stink about Obama saying "You can't put lipstick on a pig"

 there are videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjwVEeq7JiQ

and reports like this

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/a-piggish-de bat.html

Now clarify for me 2 white men can make that statement, no news, a black man says it, news. Hmmm interesting, when  Barack said it, he was talking about McCain/Palin wanting to change Washington, not Palin , But since she does believe in Book banning I will say this about her :"Man you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig."

LOL
