OK McCain got more people to watch him. but Obama got more donations after McCain spoke, kind of tells you what all those people thought of McCain.

Says to me that maybe Obama supporters really feared McCain might win and are hoping if they throw enough money at it they can turn things around?

One place I think Palin really helps in this campaign is now McCain will be free to be as moderate as he wants and appeal to everyone other than the religious conservatives.  Palin will be enough to pacify them now.

Yeah, that would be what I tend to think of as the "Dan Qualye solution" -- let the person occupying the #2 spot take all the heat so the person in the #1 spot can get by WITHOUT a teflon coating.

I was reading everyone's posts and I got to thinking, how does Washington ever get anything done? The frustration would have to be mind numbing. I really do like almost all of you on here, I don't care for the one guy that said my post about Palin being a bad mom, was the stupidest post he has ever read, [obviously missing my "Ebenezer Spooge" post.] LOL

But we have heated discussion over some of the littlest things, can you imagine how hard it must be? I know I get pissed they don't do more in Washington, but it really must be tough. I just really hope whoever wins tries to do what is best for all of us.

Christopher those pictures are perfect.

Since probably only a small percentage of the voters donate (excluding the $1 checkbox on the tax forms) it's not likely.

It would really be interesting to see a breakdown of exactly who donated what after the speech.

I think Palin has the potential to change a lot of minds in middle class America. Though she's from Alaska, she's someone from Central Ohio or Orange County, California could instantly identity with, in a way that McCain, Obama, or Biden could not. But if she doesn't address the economic problems of middle income people in a no B.S. way, she turns into just another local politician. If her main platform is God, guns and babies, she turns into the Churchlady, and no one's really going to pay attention.

Dave - you tried to paint me a kook - I'm just tossing it back at you.  I will not stand for attacks on my character.

That was a sarcastic comment, clearly. It couldn't have been more sarcastic, yet to you I was attacking your character? And your response to this "attack" on your character (painting you a kook, with sarcasm?) is to ask me why I'm still "lurking at the JBF". You claimed stuff you were saying the last few days was sarcasm, not personal attacks. You're now making personal attacks, and it's not justified.

 Jodi wrote:
Dave where is your response to Mike's source? The bold part was the part that came across as condenscending.

My response is, a couple of out of context quotes from Bush a few months after 9/11 say to me, he probably didn't know where he was. I doubt Bush would say that now, and the CIA source that says we have "a very good idea" of where he is, is probably accurate, but there are still problems with Pakistan that have not yet been solved. If this is the only sorce Mike has for his assertion that we didn't get OBL because "we" didn't want to, I think it's rather weak. Hence, my "condescending" sarcasm. Obama says that MCCain won't go to the cave where OBL lives. So, maybe he will if he gets elected. Be interesting to see what happens next, either way.

 Mike wrote:
Shh... last time Dave and I mixed it up on an election thread, he told me I'd "better watch my back" at the MOC we were going to later that month.

I think you dreamed that, or are atributing that "quote" said by someone else, to me, when I never said that. If you can find it, or saved it, I'll eat my words with skepticsm, but all I recall I ever said to you on the eve of our MOC gathering was don't talk about politics when we meet up, and we'll get along fine. That's still the case. "You better watch your back" is not something I have ever said to anyone online, or in person. Not even something that sounds like that.

Ay!  Carefull what you wish for, Keith.  I think the best thing the GOP has going for it is committed Republicans voting the "values" and religion ticket.

I think undecided voters vote with their stomaches and will likely pull the lever for Obama.

Yeah, this would be "the Bradley Effect" in action, right Mike?

Er, which is why, by the way, I'm sure Obama is going to win.

Exactly.

I'm not saying don't rattle my cage - by all means - I do it to others and expect it in return.  But don't do it and whine when I respond.  If you're trying to get a reaction, you'll get one.

You're saying this about me? I think what you're doing is out of line. Personal attacks are not my style, but if that's the only way you can find to respond to me, then go ahead.

Backing up for a moment to assure Jodi that her "Ebeezer Spooge" post was
not stupid. It was sublimely silly.
