Where in that story does it mention Peck being a 'Republican who worked for Reagan'?

He was deputy director of a terrorism task force under Reagan.. He was probably put on the task force so it would appear to be bipartisan. He's about as far from a Reagan guy as you can get. I seriously doubt he's a republican.

Bob - feel free to do a little research on the guy.  He served as deputy director of the White House Task Force on Terrorism in the Reagan Administration.

Christopher makes a somewhat fair point ... I can't find any information declaring him a democrat OR a republican, although I'm a little surprised that, of all people, Ronald Reagan ever did ANYTHING to "appear bipartisan."  Why would he need to?  He was the most-loved president of our parents' generation.

I do appreciate how you softened your statement, Christopher.  Didn't you originally say "he's not a Republican," but you changed your comment to reflect your opinion that you don't THINK he's a Republican?

I'm surprised no one is talking about Hilary's enormous lie about being under sniper fire in Bosnia. There's even video to prove her wrong.

I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as Togo said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the First Lady. That's where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I can't say with 100% certainty that he's not a Republican but he's far to the left of even the most liberal of Republicans that I'm aware of.

Exercising my right to vote or not, I'm seriously considering sitting this
election out.

I can't complain, though! We had a pretty good run as a country for 230
years or so. Sure am going to miss her....

How do you figure he's far to the left?  Got any supporting evidence about this ... or is it just the fact that he brought up the CIA concept of blowback while criticizing the current administration?

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but there are a lot of awesome conservatives out there who have abandoned the current administration because the administration itself has abandoned core conservative values and ideals.  That doesn't make them less Republican, Christopher, it just makes them fair.

Obama's real estate deal was done while Rezko was already under federal investigation.

**************************

And it was completely and totally legal on Obama's side of things.  (The fed investigates it.)  How Rezko got the money for things and paid for it was not Obama's concern or problem.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Never said it wasn't. I'm just saying that if either incident - the Clintons being photographed with Rezko or Obama's real estate deal - looks more damning, its definitely the latter. The same with Bill Clinton being photgraphed with Wright and Obama attending Wright's church.

What gets me is, at several different boards I visit people are jumping down the Clintons' throats - and I will admit that Bill needs to shut the fuck up; I almost wonder if he isn't intentionally trying to sabotage Hillary  - over things, including accusations of race baiting, but every time something happens involving Obama they buy his excuses, even when they sound weak, and people keep drinking his Kool - Aid.

Obama's excuses involving Wright and the church are seriously weak; Its hard to believe that Obama hasn't heard Wright's remarks before since some of the footage leaked was apparently 5 years old and others have said he's done things like that on many occasions. I don't know about you, but if I went to a church and heard a preacher spouting that kind of hate, I'd be looking for another church asap. And the fact that Wright is\was Obama's spiritual advisor doesn't exactly thrill me. Wright also has connections to Louis Farrakan, and that alone should have people skeptical regarding him, since Farrakan is a racist piece of garbage.

The magazine the church put out gave Farrakan an "empowerment award", with the excuse being that the magazine is published by Wright's daughter when it was finally brought up. I don't see that as being a valid excuse to absolve the church of any wrong, because they should have boycotted the magazine or asked them not to give Farrakan the award. The only thing Farrakan deserves is a swift kick in the rear.

On CNN a few days ago CN mentioned the church and talked about Oprah also attending it, but what they forgot to mention is that Oprah quit going to that church years ago and didn't even go there for long, according to what I've heard.

Or perhaps he knew that sermon Wright gave weren't Wright's words?

Not excusing what was said or how it was said (because I did find it offensive), but at least have a bit of knowledge before completely damning someone.   (Something the media needs to learn.)

And, personally, you constantly using the "drinking the Kool-Aid" analogy is getting damn old.  It's also highly offensive to me because it brings up bad memories of people committing suicide 30 some years ago.  I don't know how others feel, but that's how I feel.

What's more - it was Fla-Vor Aid, not Kool-Aid.
