See, this is a good reason why I don't think it's a good idea for an active Senator to be running for President. They should be spending their term voting to represent their constituents of their represented states. Instead, they spend at least half of it calculating what Senate votes will help get them a better job. At least Bob Dole resigned to focus on his Presidential run in '96, which I think is the right thing to do.

The Democrats have always had all that stuff ready to go, Kevin... it's been
in a warehouse "somewhere" since Dukakis, and the Dem's can't remember
where it is. BUT when they find it... Boy Howdy!

I don't know if this column by Gail Collins will assuage Neil or not, but I think its quite good.  Collins comes off as a bit of an apologist for Obama (which based on her politics is to be expected) but I don't think what she is saying is untrue.

Kevin:

The Democratic party's balls are getting dusty in a warehouse in New Mexico? Is that where they filmed the moon landing?

Obama must be doing something right since Jesse Jackson wants to cut his nuts off.

I saw that this morning -- that was fucking hilarious!  Is Jesse Jackson that stupid that he'd saying something like that in any television studio? Let alone on Fox News

After "Hymietown" everything starts to seem quaint.

My respect for Obama just went up tremedously. Like Christopher said, if Jesse Jackson doesn't like the guy, he's obviously doing something right.

Maybe this was a reverse Sister Soulja?  Haven't seen one of those in competition in a long time.

Nothing in that article about his approval for the federal disregard of the rule of law. (Yes, I know he claims he is against that part of the bill. Does not matter since he still voted in favour of it). Wish I could commit a crime and then pass a law saying that my crime is no longer a crime, even though it was when I committed it. So much for society's respect for the rule of law. When the government can act with total impunity and disregard its own laws, why should citizens bother to follow the laws?

That's some wellspring of anger that Jackson has to choose such a violent expression!

Disagree with Barack, surely, but -- "cut his nuts off"?! Yeesh! And he even made a little motion to demonstrate how he'd do it.

Man-OH-schewitz!

It should be sadly obvious that we can never let our political leaders set the standard by which the rest of us should live our lives.

I heard Al Sharpton is readying a protest of the Rainbow coalition because Jackson's comment and hand gesture recreated the real historic castration of african slaves and is ipso facto a racist gesture and remark. Seriously, here's Chuck Todd's view on the whole affair.
