How do Obama's kids feel about nuclear weapons?

Can't speak for Obama's girls (or Obama for that matter) but the candidate has addressed some criticism that he has moved to the center. A criticism Bob Herbert made in his column today. Meanwhile, Mike Murphy says he is not returning to the McCain campaign.

Well, looks like Obama is just like all the rest. So much for being different. I wonder what kind of pressure/coercion he got to vote to give retroactive immunity to prior crimes by the telecommunication industry. So much for change. Just the same old politician. A shame.

What is truly sad is that I had to search for this on the CNN site. The Jon Benet Ramsey story was the headliner. Pathetic.

The courts are still immune to all this fearmongering so far. That's our best hope.
As disappointing as Obama's vote is, I'm not really surprised. No intelligence in voters almost always leads to no guts in politicians. I had hoped Judge Vaughn Walker's July 3rd ruling (? Decision? Whatever.) would give the Senate some balls. But nope. They passed a 114 page bill I bet no one read in its entirety. Of course, that criticism goes for opponents too, to a lesser degree.

Of course he is! That's been the most annoying thing about Obama supporters (and the media). Sure, sell me on his ideas about fixing the economy, international issues, social issues, etc. But don't try to sell me on him being a different kind of politician...he's not.

Obama must be doing something right since Jesse Jackson wants to cut his nuts off.

The real criminals are the Bush administration. The telcos shouldn't be punished for crimes they were pressured into doing by their own government.

Well, the democrats won't impeach and the telcos should have stood up and said "no. this is illegal" but they did not, so they should be held accountable. "Just following orders" is not a valid excuse anymore.

Some are calling this a win because, by voting yes, Obama has removed this as a wedge issue in the campaign. That's supposed to give us hope that Obama's not really for it. We don't KNOW either way, but if he voted for something to avoid making it an issue, he's not my kind of guy. Probably still has my vote, but still.
Democrats: saving all their power-ups, special moves, and wand of fireballs charges for the Big Fight that never quite seems to materialize.

A "Win."
Most (if not all) politicians and their election machines always manage to
shift from showing apparent concern of issues towards an almost anal
catering as to what will shift points in their candidates favor. Points vs.
Issues... what should matter most?
The Democrats have always had all that stuff ready to go, Kevin... it's been
in a warehouse "somewhere" since Dukakis, and the Dem's can't remember
where it is. BUT when they find it... Boy Howdy!

And it never was. We should have all those Neo-Liberal , Neo-Imperialist corporate and political thugs thrown in jail (after a quick and speedy trial.)
