I'm more of a doodlewacker, though. I am most definitely not a Doodle-Bop. Your nation has not paid for that crime against humanity, Al!

Leftie? Me? Why... I'm an absolute moderate. It's the world that is heavily skewed to the right.
But I must say, I do have a certain admiration for some of your radical right wing conservatives like Barack Obama. Though he's starting to go far too much right for my tastes.

To reactiviate this thread somewhat here is a great editorial on Eisenhower Republicans.

Eisenhower reminds me of the Emperor Antonious Pius. Good, fair leader and under his rule, the Roman Empire was at its peak. As a result, you don't hear much about him.
From everything I have read about Eisenhower, he was a fantastic president.

I'll never forget how stunned I was to find out that he originated the "military-industrial complex" that my dad always excoriated the dirty hippies for "whining" about. I need to ask my dad if he ever knew this, but the answer might depress me.

I thought the article was interesting as the "Eisenhower Republican" identified therein would seem somewhat similar to the John McCain of 2000. McCain was 24 when Ike left office. It would lead me to believe that McCain is very much a "Eisenhower Republican" himself.
