"Which if one state allows it (particularily if DOMA is overturned) means it would be legalized in other states (Full Faith and Credit and what not)."

Great...a whole new batch of guys can deal with the hassle of pressure into getting married by their significant other!  Watch out fellas...be careful what you wish for... :-)

Here's this morning's "Say What?" quote from Doonesbury.com:

"Probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama."

Sad to say, some Obama supporters are attacking John McCain's military service.

I was disgusted by this in 2004 when some in the right went after John Kerry's military record and I'm disgusted now that some in the left are attacking McCain's record. Both men should be applauded for their brave service to (and sacrifices for) our country. That goes beyond Republican vs. Democrat, liberal vs. conservative, etc.

But popular blogger John Aravosis says McCain was a traitor for participating in North Vietnamese propaganda films while he was a P.O.W. Of course, McCain's participation in these films was coerced by torture. Aravosis' argument is like saying, "Well, the rape victim was wearing a short skirt, so obviously she deserved it." Just incredibly offensive.

Former California State Senator (and North Vietnamese sympathizer) Tom Hayden even chimes in, comparing McCain's military past to someone who has served prison time.

To his credit, Sen. Obama has done nothing but praise McCain's service. And I'm sure that he wants nothing to do with these gutter-level attacks -- I don't think Obama and the vast majority of his supporters should be held responsible for what a few crackpots say. Still, it makes me sad to see this.

The only context that the propanganda films has for today is as proof that torturing people is useless, as people will do what torturers want to alleviate their suffering.

Hmmm.  I wonder if that infringes on any DC in any way considering it's the classic Clark Kent changing to Superman image and even uses the same blue costume with the red letter?  Even if it does, I can't imagine DC would do anything about it.

If you can copyright a pose and some colors, then the entire copyright system needs to be thrown out. That's Alex Ross swiping himself, right?

Someone on the democratic side is criticizing McCain for his military service? Hardly unexpected with the low-level "unconnected" smear machines you get on all sides in an election, but disappointing.

He may not have fought the big fights, being a prisoner and all, and he broke under torture? So what. The story as I read it says that due to his father's high rank in the military he was offered the opportunity to be exchanged for enemy prisoners, but declined because it would mean leaving the others behind.

That's heroic enough in my book, and I've never heard it said it wasn't true.

But in light of his own personal experience (not to mention the point where people will do anything to make the torture stop)  I am even more disappointed with the seeming erosion of his stand against torture.

I watched the Wesley Clark interview and he complimented McCain through out the interview , I did not see an attack on him, I was shocked when the evening news used that and made it look like he attacked McCain. He said he was a hero and served his country with honor.

I would suggest anyone that thinks it was attack to look up the entire show and watch it, you will be shocked with what they media did. But lets face it hateful headlines sells better then happy ones.

The show was Face the Nation.

Sad they made a fellow military man look petty.
