But, Geoff, they're supposed to be "supreme" -- doesn't that connote "older and wiser?"

I thought it meant they came with peppers, onion, sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms.

I cannot let that pass without applause.

Getting away from Pizza and back to the election --  here is an interesting Blog conversation between conservative columnist David Brooks and liberal columnist Gail Collins both of the New York Times regarding the roles of  presidential spouses.

And in that vein here's a promise Michele Obama has made to the Gay the community.  I wonder if this will be seized upon to stir up the social conservatives?

Obama has said he won't support gay marriage, tho.  So, it might be the same struggle, but we got a long way to go, baby.

That said, I really LIKE Michelle.  She doesn't take any crap, that's for sure.

I thought he supported repeal of DOMA.  Doesn't he believe that the states can determine marriage for themselves? Which if one state allows it (particularily if DOMA is overturned) means it would be legalized in other states (Full Faith and Credit and what not).

Until it's recognized on a Federal level, what's the difference?

If States have to start respecting it the "traditional marriage" defense is weaker and questions pertaining to Disparate treatment will be raised, and lead to due process questions.  If the CA voters fail to amend their constitution  that CA case will be very persuasive authority that homosexuals are a protected class.  I think at least.  I could very well be wrong.

Edited to add: I think if the CA case survives you'll see a pretty quick challenge to DOMA.  Maybe in the trial court in the next year.  Question is what jurisdiction?  You'd want a place where the state law outlaws gay marriage but you have a "liberal" federal bench.

Florida has the issue on the ballot this November.  They are trying to get marriage to officially be defined as between one man and one woman.
