Are you serious? Oh, Jodi, that would be awesome! I'm an XL.
Brings up an interesting thing: everyone always says one of the great things about being a gay couple is that it effectively doubles your wardrobe. Unfortunately, Eric and I aren't the same size (except shoes...). My stuff swims on him and I would need some kind of buttery coating to squeeze into his.

Tom's last sentence . . . LOL, ROTFPP!
Perhaps an unfortunate choice of words -- but VERY funny nonetheless!

Like our US presidential nominees, I choose my words very carefully. (Like how I brought that back around to our subject?)

"I was surprised that someone could be put to death for that crime, I didn't even know that was a sentence they could give. I am surprised 4 thought it was OK."
---
And I was surprised that Obama took this position on it...interesting.
For once Obama says something I can agree with. If an adult rapes a 6-8 year old child, they don't deserve to take another breath of air let alone do so at the expense of the tax payers.

I am fully opposed to the death penalty as I think it is "Cruel and Unusual Punishment" and thus prohibited by the Eighth Amendment. I also think its application tends to be discriminatory which raises 14th amendment issues. That said, I disagree with the majority's decision because I think the majority placed their moral reservations above that of the state legislatures. Among the reasons provided for their decision was that the Louisiana law violated national norms. Justice Alito's dissent argues that Court did not allow a national norm to develop and that this decision will snuff the development of such norms. My feelings are if you find the Death Penalty itself does not violate the Eighth Amendment than something as heinous a child rape should be considered grounds for its application if the states have deemed that it is a crime worthy of the ultimate punishment.

This is the reason I am opposed to the death penalty. Certainly not because I think it's immoral (or the weak, WEAK argument "why do we kill people to show killing is wrong"). I think it is an appopriate punishment for the most heinous crimes. However, there have been WAY too many instances of death row inmates being freed at the last second bc of new evidence to make me very confident in our system's ability to get this right 100% of the time. And with something like death sentences, you can have no less than 100% accuracy.

Me and Joel joined at the hips once again. Death penalty supporting conservatives can spend countless hours telling us how govt. can't be trusted to do anything right (need I mention universal health care, $640 toilet seats, etc.), and how they always mess it up --- but, somehow when it comes to putting someone to death we'll NEVER EVER goof.

______________
Dig. I'll be interested to hear his stance on the D.C. "gun ban" decision (breaking now). Senator Obama has already stated that--though favoring 'gun' control along the usual public safety route--he believes the Second Amendment to assert an individual right.

I meant that the death penalty's application tends to be racially discriminatory.

Based on the AP report it looks like a big win for the NRA. Not so good for the Police.

Exactly my problem with it. Scary to think how many people have been put to death for doing absolutely nothing.
