Maybe the Catholic sacrament of confession appeals to Dubya . . . . he really
needs to seek forgiveness.

Not even a blip on the radar for me...
What a pity for you. Tim Russert epitomized the american dream and as
Senator Obama noted he lived and espoused the core values that make
americans unique and to which we must become re-committed.

It would have been interesting to see if Bush's evangelical base would
have abandoned him to any degree had he converted to Catholicism before
the 2004 election.
Damn papists!

Isn't it exciting to know that we live in a country that someone that was raised by a single woman on welfare can one day run to be elected to the highest level of our government and has a great shot at making it and a man raised by a garbage man can make it to the top of his chosen, highly competitive field.
I will use Tim Russerts dads favorite expression: ‘What a country!’"
Daniel if you want to read why he is so important to those on here, look at the link below, he was what is great about being american.

Also, Bush has started looking for Bin Laden again.

Apparently he hopes to get Osama before his term is up.
The man is doing some serious "Legacy repair" these days. Making friends with the Europeans, kissing the Pope's ring, trying to catch Bin Laden. Before you know it, he'll be on Oprah apologizing for his administration's mishandling of the Katrina /New Orleans disaster. Maybe he'll even cry a little.

Maybe he's NOT going to throw away what little cred he has left with the traditional slew of post-election pardons?

GWB as Pope?
As low an opinion as I may have of the office of the Pontiff, I don't think he'd ever have qualified. Not for moral reasons, but simply because the level of personal political acumen needed to get there is quite high.
Cheney, however, has the political intelligence and dexterity of a Rodrigo Borgia (albeit not on the same scale, perhaps) and might have had a shot if he'd turned to Spiritual rather than Temporal politics (and been a catholic).

Here's an interesting blog regarding HRC (HIllary Rodham Clinton) and her love affair with the HRC (Human Rights Campaign). It speaks to what she as a candidate said and actually did (or didn't do) for the gay "community" -- and you all know how much I love that word. The entry is about half-way down the page.
On the scroll, you'll pass an entry about John McCain and what he doesn't intend to do for all them queers. Interesting stuff.

Tom,
Since you live in DC, I suppose while DOMA is in force you won't be able to legally wed?
