Everyone is so up in arms over the civil rights of terrorists but
what about the civil rights of all the innocents raped and killed under

We didn't do that, therefore while it sucks, I don't feel dirty because it
happened. Not so, Gitmo.

Good point Kevin, but I'd also like to add that I don't believe for a
moment that anyone is up in arms over the civil rights of terrorists.
I do believe that many of us are concerned about the civil rights of
suspected terrorists. That whole "innocent until proven guilty" ideal.

This is not the first time that the atrocities that Saddam's regime
committed has been brought up, but since that has nothing to do with
the discussion at hand I wouldn't want it to distract from or derail this
current discussion (about what kind of due process and jurisprudence is
being exercised by the U.S. Government over their suspected-terrorist-
detainees).

Bonus points to Geoff Gibson (again) for articulating so well in the post
above mine what I was trying to say in the first paragraph of my own post
right after.

I'm just asking questions because I want to know what happened.

If that were true you could just Google for your answers.  I loved the hurt innocent act though.  Two thumbs up.

Scott:

I am seeking answers everywhere.

What I find most revealing is the recurring theme, again everywhere, that the
people who are most stridently defending what's happening at Gitmo are
those who don't want questions about it asked.

Huh.

The other important  thing to remember (from a criminal law perspective) is that in this country, citzen or not,* you are innocent until proven guilty.

I agree.  Citizen or not, in this country.

If Cuba were to say they wanted all of the prisoners released I'd say release them.

Al, there is never a need to discredit you.  Anyone can read the way you "innocently" phrase things and you discredit yourself without any help from me.

Honest and fair questions discredit me?

Wow.

Wow.

Yeah, and Fox News is fair and balanced.

If that's true, I respectfully request that you stop discrediting me yourself,
and just let my apparent agenda do it for me.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Scott, I think it is a fair question. You have been asked by quite a few people how you know that the inmates are terrorists, although they have not had a trial. You have not answered yet.
