Obama, at the time, was not in the US Senate, but was against the war.

Hey! That sounds like me! But I'm a Republican so my opinion is worthless as
we are all complicit in the war. . . .

Are you arguing with yourself now?

Yes I kind of am. But.....

Personally I can not see how they could not see the facts, but I was not being told what they were , as according to Mike McCellan, I also was not voted into office to represent the masses, that most did believe, hook line and sinker what Bush was telling them.  They had those that elected them that invading Iraq was what they wanted. I bet if you ask 10 people on the street, you would still have the majority say that the Hijackers were from Iraq. When in fact, there was no one from Iraq.

But allowing that bitterness to blind one to the faults of one's own "side" is another entirely.

Todd I do agree with this.

Christopher I did answer it:

At one time Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, I believe it was the Americans that gave it to them, because there was a problem with Iran. That is not a fact I am debating, but the Bush adminstration knew full well, those weapons had been destroyed. I also don't believe Clinton invaded Iraq.

*Edited: I didn't post this to put words in her mouth.

I'm still waiting to hear how Bill Clinton can say Iraq has WMDs and he's a great President yet when Bush says it he's a liar.

--------------------------------------------

Because Clinton didn't invade.  The lying's not the issue (all politicians do it), the invading is.

Oh, and Bill Clinton wasn't necessarily a great president.  He has the advantage of shitty bookends.

Bob Dole said it best regarding McClellan

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in a message sent yesterday morning. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits and, spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

"In my nearly 36 years of public service I've known of a few like you," Dole writes, recounting his years representing Kansas in the House and Senate. "No doubt you will 'clean up' as the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm. When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me.' Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years"

I wish Dole had show fire like that when he ran for President. He may not have won but at least it would've been more interesting.

I believe the point that Christopher is trying to make is that Bill Clinton (and the Clinton administration) believed that Iraq had and were pursuing a WMD program...not in the past, but at that time. They didn't believe they had been destroyed.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Invading is wrong but airstrikes and signing legislation calling for regime change is ok?

They also didn't jump into a war until they found out if it was true or not, but then again Gore wasn't connected to Halliburton.
