Jodi, I get why Geoff would take offense to your comments about "his party". He's said, many times, that he votes the person and decidedly not the party. He said that he regrets his vote in 2000, of which you continually lump him in with anyone who says they're a Republican as if he's supposed to be held accountable for GWB. Finally, Geoff has been incredibly even-handed with regard to discussion on the issues, the candidates, and both parties in this entire thread. I would respectfully ask you and everyone not to divide absolutely everyone along party lines and/or assume you know where someone stands by their party affiliation alone.
Listen, I'm a die-hard Democrat with liberal leanings and I'll be the first to admit that I'd be throwing stones at glass houses if I put the blame entirely on GWB for the mess we're in. Remember, Democrats as well as Republicans, for instance, voted to invade Iraq and I don't, for a minute, believe 99.9% of the backpedaling both parties have done on the issue. Both the vote for and the recent backpedaling against the war were done for political reasons much more so than Democrats claims that they were "tricked" into believing Hussein had WMD. Yes, GWB and his cronies have a lot to be held accountable for during his awful term as president, but the Democrats certainly can't walk away with their hands clean.
