It's a travesty that the media allows the propagandists of both parties to make practically every election a circus. What matters are substantive issues such as the war, the economy, the environment. Instead this election may well be determined by the discovery of some shady Islamist in Obama's family tree, or a disastrous "Howard Dean" moment for McCain.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.”
C.S. Lewis

Catching up here, but I consider myself a good Democrat and I supported Clinton through both of his terms in office. I don't, at all, see the comparison between GWB and Clinton with regard to being a "good" anything.

I think Mike may have meant supporting the Clintons during Hillary's recent

I don't think Clinton did a bad job as president, in fact I think he was fairly effective. He kept taxes relatively low, cut government spending, and did a relatively good job keeping us secure. I'm not crazy about his cuts to military spending or how lax his SEC was, but in fairness I think some of that maybe monday morning quarterbacking on my part.
I don't think he was a particularly effective leader of his party -- under his leadership the Democrats lost both chambers (which I think actually helped his presidency) and more GOP governors were elected.
I've often thought Clinton very well understood the job of president but he didn't understand the office.

Kucinich makes me so proud I would gladly sleep with his wife. In fact, nothing he could do could stop me from wanting his wife; that's how proud of him I am.

I admire the sacrifices you would make for your country Kevin.

Whereas Clinton was a terrible Democrat, he steered the ship though an era of peace and prosperity we'll likely never see again in our lifetimes, so I'll grant him that.
Of course he's nowhere near Bush in terms of "bad Presidency", but I was kind of throwing that out there as something for the Republicans to identify with.

I thought Clinton did a great job as president, I think everyones negative feelings toward him is connected to all the whitewater/Ken Star/ muck raking that was going on during his administration. I do not remember another president that had to endure the constant personal attacks as the Clintons. Is he a horndog?, yes he is and I would NEVER marry the man.
But I think Gore made a giant mistake by not using Clinton in his attempt to get elected.
I met Clinton about 3 years ago and that man is charismatic.
I think Geoff is full of crap! (edited because I made the mistake of thinking Geoff wasn't just a plain old republican, which he says he isn't but I disagree)
Kucinich is da man!!!!!
