Old, old, old new Jodie.  That's been out there for years.

And to me, doing cocaine is much, much lower on the morality chart than divorce.

Oh, and if McCain turned into the Hulk, he'd have my vote for sure!

I don't think any of that stuff is relevant or a test of how good a president a candidate might be.  Its all baubles to distract the sheep.

And when, in all his years in the senate, has McCain done something like this?

Well, he did attack another Senator in a Comittee Meeting, so it's not that far a stretch.

Hmm... divorce is mentioned in the bible more than once as a sin.  A few times, in the same list as homosexuality.  Divorce was likely to get one ex-communicated from the church.

Nothing in Leviticus about cocaine use...

Plus, he was honest about it, unlike the last few Presidents!  He says, I did it in college, it was crazy, had a good time, but it's behind me now.

Power to him.  Thought that was awesome.  I think the American People respect that a lot more than lies like "I didn't inhale" or Bush trying to cover up his coke use and his DUI incidents.

Mike:

I agree about Obama's drug use -- just like I feel McCain's divorce is nothing either.  Shit, if we used McCain's alleged treatment of his first wife as a barometer for public office half of the Democratic senators would have to resign, including both senators from Massachusettes.

I don't remember Bush trying to cover them up.  He didn't deny it or admit it.  He said (rightly) its not relevant to the issues at hand.  Clinton should have done the same thing with Lewinsky.  The press should have been interested in whether he was a total dumbass instead of his past indesrections.

Agreed!  That goes along with what I was suggesting upthread about the civil campaign.  I'm just saying....

Yeah, but don't forget the context of how the Lewinsky story got out. The issue wasn't just his indescretions...it was lying under oath re: the Paula Jones law suit. Clinton HAD to address it.

Yes Geoff  I am a mind reader and you are ALWAYS right.............. hee hee.....roll eyes

Thats as irrelevant as McCain's romantic history

He didn't just get a divorced, he whored his way all across Washington. Doing it while his wife was recovering from a serious injury.  Yeah that's a romantic story for you.

Hmm... divorce is mentioned in the bible more than once as a sin.  A few times, in the same list as homosexuality.  Divorce was likely to get one ex-communicated from the church

Awwww Tom you silly guy , republicans want to put in place constitutional amendments  against gays, they get divorces so that's OK in their book, you see they like to pick and choose whats important in their bible , they look at it as a "Holy Buffet"

Beyond that fact that he's your candidate, why are you willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt but not McCain?

Because after the lies and mindless following of most republicans of the current president and his mob of crooks, I must say another republican president gives me chills. And listening to unedited speeches by McCain makes me think he is self serving just like the rest of the crooks in charge.( I spent this weekend finding unedited speeches because I hate when things are cut and pasted together.)

The press should have been interested in whether he was a total dumbass instead of his past indesrections.

Being a republican didn't you vote for the king of all dumbasses, twice? I believe during the Clinton years we had a surplus, and what is the national debt now..............??????????

it was lying under oath

This is the thing that was completely unforgivable and made me lose respect for him.
