I read somewhere that she suspended her campaign instead of stopping her campaign for legal reasons. If she suspends, she can still fund raise to pay off her debt but if she stops it, she cannot.

So she expects people will give her money to help pay off her poor fiscal choices? Amazing. That's like Lisa giving Mayor Quimby her piggybank.

Just read this on digg, didn't realize McCain had the morals of a dog in heat.

Interesting. I wonder if Obama will use this if the election gets dirty and McCain starts to to attack Obama's perceived moral failings?

Oh, there's more than just this, Neil.  McCain's got a lot of human failings - but so far, both he and Obama have pledged to make it a decent campaign and just debate the issues.

Now, I won't put it past OTHERS to bring this up, but I'm hoping both McCain and Obama live up to their pledge to keep it clean.

Will believe it when I see it. If the polling is close, they will attack.

It would be great if they could both stay out of the gutter but who is to say that they won't simply tell someone else to attack and then piously claim that they had nothing to do with it? Didn't McCain do just that with a TV ad or something?

Maybe - I don't know about that, but I do know that McCain asked a Republican organization to not run a negative ad about Obama.

Frankly, Obama and McCain don't have to do any of the dirty work - in the McCain/Feingold campaign reform act, the way ads are run, they're either from the candidate, or they're from an outside source called a 527, named after the tax code that marks them as a tax-exempt organization.

For example, the Swift Boat Veterans who lie to Hurt America or whatever those goons were called?  That's a 527 Organization.  Bush had nothing official to do with it - it was just "concerned citizens" doing their duty, etc and so on.

So, no doubt, 527's will spring up on both sides - against Obama and against McCain, but thus far, Obama and McCain have both said they'll run a decent campaign and both seem willing and ready to do so.  Neither is the dirty politics type, though McCain has a notorious short violent temper - odds are, if Obama can get him worked up enough in a debate, he'll freak out and lose his shit and start tearing up the podium and screaming, so we can only hope for that.

I love that McCain jumped on the moral high ground first, after reading the above article, I can see why he did.  Obama's doing it because he thinks it's the right thing to do, McCain is doing it to cover his butt.

Swift Boat Veterans who lie to Hurt America

I know there are lawyers on here, why couldn't Kerry sue them for slander? Nightline did a program going point by point and proved they lied about everything.

My buddy, who is a voracious Howard Stern listener, said that Stern has been playing an audio tape where McCain blows up on his wife (the new one) and calls her a c***. Stern wonders why the mainstream press has not mentioned anything about it. Anybody heard anything about this?

I think that is two stories getting mixed together. A biography published
recently outlines an incident anonymously sourced by three Arizona
reporters:

 QUOTE:
At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said,
"You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he
responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you
c***."

This was allegedly in front of reporters while McCain was on the
campaign trail. It's been talked about in the media, but was mostly
overshadowed by the whole Pastor Wright circus. McCain has ignored the
question when it has come up. The book also reports an incident where
McCain physically assaulted another senator during a Senate Committee
meeting, and I believe that story was confirmed.

What Stern is playing is a speech where McCain accidentally says "c***"
while trying to say crunch.

"odds are, if Obama can get him worked up enough in a debate, he'll freak out and lose his shit and start tearing up the podium and screaming, so we can only hope for that."

And when, in all his years in the senate, has McCain done something like this?

"Obama's doing it because he thinks it's the right thing to do, McCain is doing it to cover his butt. "

A mind reader, eh Jodi? I'm an Obama supporter (so far)...but don't be a Pollyana. Republicans aren't all EVIL.

Just read this on digg, didn't realize McCain had the morals of a dog in heat.

This is not news, and there is no agenda in the article at all  Fair reporting there.  Divorce is always one sided you know.

Both candidates have human failings.  I don't think you can find any candidate without some failings or vices.  How well is known by the general public that Obama did coke?  Thats as irrelevant as McCain's romantic history.  Is this what the debate is going to be about?

I love that McCain jumped on the moral high ground first, after reading the above article, I can see why he did.  Obama's doing it because he thinks it's the right thing to do, McCain is doing it to cover his butt.

Beyond the mind-reading -- don't you think thats a little naive? You don't think Obama has things from his past he'd rather not discuss?  Beyond that fact that he's your candidate, why are you willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt but not McCain?

I know there are lawyers on here, why couldn't Kerry sue them for slander? Nightline did a program going point by point and proved they lied about everything.

Because he likely would lose such a case.  He's a public figure.  The standard for defamation for public figures is more difficult than for private schmoes.  Besides going to court would have been politically stupid.

"You wouldn't like me when I get angry Senator Obama!  McCain Smash!!!"

I think the Hulk as president would be awesome, but McCain almost never wears purple.
