What did you all think about McCain's debate challenge to Obama?

Your question to Jodie -- and thanks for the compliment.

I'm all for McCain and Obama's Lincoln-style match up.  McCain has found success in his town-hall style debates, so he may think of himself as quite an orator.  I would be interested in him taking on Obama, who's so smooth, he may well be glass.

Personally, I love when McCain gets snippy about Obama's youth.

(Oh, and Marc -- I don't tend to be very open about my BM profile.  I'm a public figure, remember...  But thanks for the compliment, anyway -- though I think Eric is MUCH better looking than me.)

Jodi,

First off, you are one of my favorite people on this board, so don't take this wrong.  But, you obviously aren't scared to give an honest answer, so here goes: if a gay male friend of yours wanted to spend the day with your daughter (taking her shopping or to a museum or somesuch), would you feel weird or nervous?

Thanks,

Tom,

Sorry.  I guess when someone specifically mentions a public website, where they willingly post semi-nude pics of themselves I assume the obvious and logical.  To say nothing of the fact that I made sure not to link people to your page.

Jeezus.

Oh, I wasn't worried.  You were the one who made no sense.

Obama shouldn't accept any suggestion of McCain's at face value. Don't cede control of the setting. Obama's gonna have a hard enough time not seeming like "the kid." He's better of getting McCain in more traditional debate setting with a moderator and a panel. It's going to be interesting to see if the media will think it a challenge to goad McCain into losing his temper.

I think if I were Obama I'd agree -- but not to 10 before the convention.  I'd agree to five. 3 town halls.  If I were McCain I would ask if Obama would do a town hall on a military base.

Michael:

As made clear by my post I disagree.  I think he needs to continue defining himself -- I still think the Wright thing has defined him.  He's super charismatic a town hall should be to his stength.  I think he should take McCain up on the offer.
