Nader and Barr will be competing to see who gets the fewest votes.

Frankly, I could even see McCain picking Lieberman....

OK just hearing those two speak together would make me crack up. Not because of what they are saying , just the way they talk.

Oh and I think Wesley Clark would be pretty good VP too.

Okay, that's two days in a row you've made me laugh while agreeing with you, Christopher.  What's up with that?

If Nader pulls votes away from any candidate it would be Obama.  If Nader didn't want McCain to be President he should pull out of the race since the Nader supporters would probably vote for Obama.

Wesley Clark would be an excellent choice for VP I think.  That or Secretary of Defense.

I think McCain would do well to get a younger conservative.  Part of me would love to see him tap a hispanic to get that constituancy into the party (America ain't getting whiter).  Perfect world I think a guy like Powell would be great but I think he lost his taste for Washington.  I don't think Powell would get any Black Voters other than JC Watts -- but I think he still so respected he couldn't hurt the ticket. Bobby Jindal is too young -- he needs to start shaving before he becomes VP.

As for Obama he needs to reach out to those who voted for Hillary* -- woman and working class whites.  I think Hillary would be a poor choice for VP, to much baggage.  Gore and Richardson are out because both grew the "beard of defeat" (I favor ammending the constitution -- growth of a defeat beard should be grounds to bar a candidate from ever holding public office again).  I would advise Obama to look for someone who was NOT part of the primary process in 2008.   I would also advise him to stay away from Senators.  The more I think of it I think Mike O'Brien's suggestion a few pages back was a good one.  I think you want someone comepetant but not someone who's thinking of running him (or her) self in 2012.

*Of course I think a lot of people voting for Hillary were voting against Obama and he won't get them.
