McCain's VP is probably more important than Obama's,
__________

I still don't have even a wild guess as to who might help McCain as his VP selection.

OK. Out for the evening and back to see that things are finally back on track
here. Jodi and Tom are joking about Webb's relative cuteness and Hagerman
is making Mondale jokes.

All is right with the world.

The only problem I see with Powell and McCain is too much military. I love Powell, I really was hoping he would come out as a democrat and run for office as a dem.

I am soooo glad Arnold isn't a natural born US citizen, a McCain/ Terminator ticket would be scary for us Dems. :0)

All is right with the world.

I agree........................GROUP HUG!!!!!!!!!!

Geoff I wouldn't have a problem if you were my son's baseball coach,
but I would not let my son spend alone time with you. I am sorry if that
looks "hopeless" but I would imagine Adam Walsh's dad would feel the
same way. With kids I am just going to error on the side of caution.

As I said, I didn't let any woman babysit my son either. Because of TV
programs showing hidden cameras of women babysitters abusing kids.

I was with my family at Costco when the above response came in and I
feel compelled to respond.

Your endorsement of my coaching rings slightly hollow Jodie. Candidly,
Jodie your position (and Greg's) is by its very nature inherently insulting
and hurtful. You presume because of my gender that when I was
coaching kids it was to have access to them to molest them. You are
making that judgment based on my gender not on who I am as a person.
Thats the view your position endorses. Do you want someone to make
assumptions about your sons because of their gender? So if I draw
inferences from your position (as you articulated it) that you do not like
maybe you should consider what you said and whether those inferences
are fair before crying foul.

Moreover, as I stated repeatedly, I agree that you should be cautious of
anyone alone with kids regardless of gender -- my point is that to
assume that a male wanting to spend time with kids he is not related to
must be doing so to have access to harm is unfair and not based in
reality. Its based in irrational fear.

Finally, your reference to Adam Walsh is unfair and NOT related to what
we have discussed herein. He was abducted and murdered by a stranger,
not a coach, scout master or mentor.

But it is no ones legal right to be alone with my child and it is MY RIGHT
to not allow, whoever I want, to be with my child.

When did I, Al, Todd, or anyone else say anyone had a legal right to be
alone with your kids or that you had no right to allow who you want around
your kids?

Condie for McCain -- bad idea!

But what about Wesley Clark for Obama?

Well, in between leaving work, picking up groceries, eating dinner, and deciding to jump on the computer at home, Geoff has once again pretty much read my mind in regards to all replies I'd want to make about the irrational fear of men wanting to be around children.

And, Jodi, if you're saying I still haven't answered your hypothetical "Lemme take your kid skateboarding." question, I beg to differ.  I did, in fact, say that I was on the same page as Geoff with his response.  Felt that was succinct enough.
