About 10% to 13% of the population is left handed and I can probably find data that confirms that. :)

"At least left-handies can be "re-educated"... "

My grandfather was a leftie. His father was a sinistrophobe and subjected my grandfather to all sorts of humiliation to "beat" those inclinations out of him. As an adult he finally managed to live a full life as a leftie, or rather: "ambidextrous". And swore that he would never walk that same dark path himself.

Let's all stand up against the terrible injustice of Sinistrophobia.

My friends grampa was left handed and had his left arm cut off in a factory accident. So he had to learn how to use his right hand foreverything.

Downer! - back on topic: to me, the BEST thing about Northstar was that his homosexuality didn't put his character in a pretty box with a pretty bow.  He was full of conflicting characteristics that didn't have any "aha, so THAT'S why he-" angles.  His being gay didn't make him a jerk, but neither was he JUST a jerk who happened to be gay.

Take away the super-powers and he's still the most interesting Alphan.

Rereading this thread just now. Eighteen years, and little has changed.

Sad but true. I honestly didn’t realize it was a relic as I was reading it. The 1% guy desperately clinging to that statistic while insisting one of his best friends is gay, pure classic bigotry right there. Never goes out of style.

The nastiness and homophobia seems to have been brought more fully to
the surface.

As sobering as rereading this was, I was struck by two things:

1) by and large, all involved were reasonably respectful to one another.

2 John landed a good one with, “And Liberace!! Coulda knocked me over
with a feather boa!”

This stuck out to me as pretty astute - the intervening two (!) decades (!!) have revealed even more that the Aquarian movement was pretty sexist at its core. When some future historian writes the history of this era, I’ll bet the hippies can be easily tied to later, more explicitly anti-feminist movements with very little effort.
