As for the extra powers

***

JMS himself already seemed to ignore Jenkins' story which gave him power to "hear" spiders and other extra powers-albeit now for his own excess powers. And I believe the organic webbing has been referenced exactly once.

The problem is...that's just bad writing.  When you just start blowing off stuff like that, you pull readers out of the story.  I'm sure there were some people who read and liked that Jenkins' story, who read "The Other" and wonder/are frustrated that the story is being ignored.  And if you can just dump any Spider-story down the memory hole anytime you like, that can only encourage creators to do dumber and dumber things with the character.

I predict that a lot of stuff is going to get "blown off".

Not literally, "Blown off".

"Blown off" as in ignored and never referenced again.

Although the literal meaning can be fun too.
