One thing, Spider-Man won't have to worry if he has an itch in mid-webswing.

And... do these new mechanical arms remind anyone else of 1) Gizmo from TEEN TITANS or 2) the faded-into-obscurity Spider-Kid who built jointed mechanical arms to become Spider-Man's sidekick?

There are only three primary colors. Since good
guys usually (tho not always) wear primaries, yellow
plus red is bound to show up a lot.

Oh -- and here's an amusing exercise from my art
college days....

That's interesting JB.  May I ask you which Spidey outfit you prefer?  I loved you r Chapter 1 interpretation. It was fab. Also(although this is a spidey thread) why did you change the FF costumes after the negative zone..they were soooooo cool in the darker colours  and White.

Thanks

SP

The original, red and black with lots of weblines.

++++

why did you change the FF costumes after the
negative zone

*****

For a mechanical reason -- comic panels looks
stronger with there are solid black areas in them.
This is called "spotting blacks". By making the FF's
uniforms black and white, I was able to spot the
blacks automatically.

Sean, you keep making a comparison between this new costume and Spider-Woman's costume.  The one she's wearing now is the classic one she wore when she got her own title.

It's basically the same one she wore, sans mask that covered her entire head, from her first appearance.  Me, I'm a fan of that costume on her.  It works for me.  This new Spider-Man costume, with what appears to be metal on the arms and legs?  Yeah, not so much.

BTW, you also post a cover from FORCE WORKS and ask what dye Spider-Woman used for her hair.  That's not the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman, who had lost her powers and retired by that time, but Spider-Woman II (Julia Carpenter) who made her first appearance in SECRET WARS.

Is the original Spider-Woman still one of the High Evolutionary's creations (evoled from a spider) or has that origin been done away with.  It seems too "comic booky" for NuMarvel.

Done away with. ( And I never knew that to be her origin, Wayne. Eewww). She's now a gal that was genetically altered by her dad, I think, in the womb.

Reminds me of the awful origin in the Hulk movie.

They're getting to that part in SPIDER-WOMAN: ORIGIN.  The High Evolutionary is definitely a part of it.  Having been a fan of Spider-Woman since the first issue of her own series back in the 70s, and just picking up ESSENTIAL SPIDER-WOMAN, Bendis is staying surprisingly on track/on model with her origin.  A few things changed here and there, but they work for me.  Remember, her origin changed significantly from her first appearance in MARVEL SPOTLIGHT 32 where she was the High Evolutionary's first female New Men and, thus, not human at all.  By her second appearance in MTU 29 she was just genetically altered by the High Evolutionary, but a human female.
