The more I see the Spider-Man picture Hitch drew the more it seems to me that the bottom stinger/leg/whatever may actually be two stings/legs/whatever or something that splits in two. While the two at the sides are identical, the bottom one is different.

BTW, Hitch is really good, although I can't understand the anatomy of Spider-Man's knees, and I like the way he draws the webbing, thin but keeping the Michael Golden/Arthur Adams/Todd McFarlane knots.

VOGUE FASHION REPORT

Well, things are certainly looking up this Spring, with both the Amazing Spiderman and the Mysterious Spiderwoman heading the way in crimson and gold...this seasons HOT colours.

Notice the crisp crimson and how well it complements the vibrant red, just the colours for this years fashion conscious young superhero.  Sleek fitting slim fit lines, enhance musculature and physique, so you won't be catching Fred T.Dukes in this ensemble. Spidermans outfit seems to have a claw motif going on, but as to their functionality?  Still its always handy to have an extra arm or 2.  Do we see the influence of Otto Octavius here??

The hand of Hydra(as opposed to head) may be seen in the ladies outfit, but we detect subtle tones of Van Dyne in there somewhere.  Critics may say that this close matching of the uniforms for our heroes is a bit twee, but Susan Richards has long emulated her male colleagues look.

And lest we forget this trend has happened before, with a redheaded Spiderwoman...was this the same Spiderwoman or Spiderman for that matter??  This Black and White look was hot in the nineties.

What did Spiderwoman use to dye her hair??

Why has Spidey swung from  1 end of the colour spectrum to the other??

SOME THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE: The figure hugging look is still there.  Rumour has it that Janet Van Dyne and Sue Richards have suggested capes for the Spider duo at a recent poker game at the Baxter Building, but that Anthony Stark has had the Red and Yellow Brand licensed to Stark enterprises.

Next issue we visit Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne in the Hamptons to discuss his new expanding underwear, available in 3 sizes , small, medium and large.

Yours:

Prue Giroux.Fashion Correspondent.

Okay... I have a silly question.... why is the costume "armored?" And what was the justification for the mechanical arm-thingees?

****

Guessing cause he just got "killed" and they felt he needed more protection.  But I am not sure.

Red and gold works great for Iron Man.  It's even good on Spider-Woman.

On Spider-Man?  Yuck.

While I agree that 97% of the time costume changes are a bad idea, here's an instance where it was a good idea.

And on the color note, if I had created a character called 'The Whizzer' I don't think I'd have had him running around in a yellow costume for obvious reasons.

Wow that costume looks even worse in action poses....

Who in their right mind actually thinks that is a better costume than Dirko's?

Like I said, rumored to last a very short time.

There are even issues being solicited with him in his regular costume.

I think it is supposed to be a plot point, coming out of The Other and leading to Civil War.

For better or worse... COSTUME CHANGE= BUMP IN SALES.

At least that is what the backward think of the 80's and 90's said.

Guys, to borrow from John Wayne:

“That ain’t Spider-Man. What you’re seeing is an Image wannabe wearin' Spider-Man’s costume – and not even that anymore. I found Spider-Man back in my back issues. Wrapped him in plastic, buried him in my long boxes with my own hands. I thought it best to keep it from ya.”

This new costume didn't bug me so much until I saw it in action. See how
the right foot (the one on our left) seems to blend into the suit and look
"wrong" at first glance? That ain't the artist's fault, there's just no coloring to
separate it from the "spats."
