I'm hoping that this is a red herring to keep the costume under wraps until we find that he's only changed the blue to black as originally designed. My GREAT fear is with the upcoming Spider-Man 3. Rumors have abounded that there would be a change in the look of the costume and most have attributed this to Venom buttttt...

This also makes it sound like Tony Stark is going to be the asshole again.

Can't anybody write the real Tony Stark anymore?

And that Spider-Man armor/costume is the most ridiculously ugly thing I've ever seen.  And I've seen some pretty ugly stuff...

That new costume looks like it belongs to Spider-Man's disco loving cousin.

Sounds like a cue for a six-part Return of the Hypno-Hustler "event"...

I usually enjoy the things Marvel's publishing right now, but that is one ugly costume. The story it's in had damn well better be one of the best in Spider-Man history.

Spidey also got a huge gun and a monocle one time in an Erik Larsen-drawn story.

Can anyone post that cover?

For some reason, the link's not working. It's Spider-Man Volume 1 #21.

JQ: It’s going to be a year of Civil War, there’s just no two ways about it.

Early indications are that a lot of mainstream press is interested in Civil War because it’s a huge event that seems accessible by its very nature. You won’t need a road map of the Marvel Universe in order to understand what’s happening and that seems to me to be a very positive sign. Of course time will tell but I really believe in this story.

Sure, there might be characters that some people may not know, but they’ll instantly be able to relate to what’s going on. Also, if the timing works out, year’s end will bring about the most controversial story of my tenure as Editor-in-Chief as the biggest genie ever goes back into the bottle.

He may have plans to make Peter Parker a single man again, unless the genie is something else entirely.

The problem with Peter Parker married is that it probably appeals to less potential readers than an adolescent or even an unattached adult character.

Peter as a divorced man would relate to an even smaller crowd, and doesn't solve the problem. It exasperates it.

I was going to start picking up Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (since I've given up on Amazing and the Marvel Knights version) after this horrible cross over finishes. If this is what is waiting for me I'll stick to Sean McKeever's Marvel Adventures Spider-Man and skip this mess totally.

"Overthrow J.Q.!!!!!  J.B. for E.I.C.!!!!!!"

Though it's unlikely that we will get the latter, the former seems unavoidable now.
