"Although we do not expect your work to be as spectacular"

Who's is this "we" Alvin? On many other boards the news that Gail and JB are leaving so soon is a disappointment. For example, even on Newsarama, a bastion of negavitiy, many express admiration for Gail and JB's work:

"With all due respect,..." etc.

_______________________

This must be a definition of "respect" that I've never encountered before. Your opinions are not shared by most of the people that hang out here, Alvin. This is a place for fans of John Byrne to congregate. If you are a current fan (seems highly unlikely), or just a fan of "the old stuff", then you better show it, FAST. One post filled with a lot of derogatory piffle is not encouraging for your future involvement in this forum. It's straight up trolling.

Dissenting views are fine, but if you're only here to fling insults, you're going to be gone.

With all due respect, I really have to say, John, that you are extrememy conceited.

I do agree about what you said about Wizard proclaiming its top 10 artists and such.  However, I don't think you're in a position to criticize their process since it's been a while that you've even been considered a top creator.  With what you've been producing lately, Wizard is right not to even put you on that list.

I stopped reading Wizard recently, but if I'm not mistaken Byrne has made their Top 10 "Hot" artists list a few times in the last year.

Funny how people can say "with all due respect" and think they can say anything afterward and not be offensive.

"With all due respect, Alvin, is that your head or is a monkey perched on your shoulders?"

"With all due respect" is esperanto for "I am about to insult you.  Brace yourself."

One of the first things I noticed when I came online about ten years ago, was this odd assumption that one can say anything to anyone -- from behind the safety and general anonymity of a screen name, of course -- provided it is prefixed with "With all due respect" or followed by "no offense". As in, "You are a steaming great pile of dog vomit -- no offense". Emily Post and Samuel Webster would be confused, I expect.

That said -- let's bide a wee, and see if this is another drive-by, or if "Alvin" returns to back up his comments with some facts. To borrow a line from Mr. Spock, "Specifics, Doctor. Labels do not make arguments."

I would imagine that there would be some disappointment J.B. with the way this was handled on DC's part . I'm curious thou does this leave you with hard feelings towards the men or women at Dc who are responsible for it ?
