So far, what you've said sounds reasonable, Trevor. Plus, you've made more than one post, and don't appear to be trolling for trouble. Alvin made one post, which among other things, said JB's work sucks (in so many words) called him conceited, in connection with his leaving Action Comics, which really makes no sense, and then told him he needs to work on being more humble and improving his work. No constructive criticism, just a bunch of insults and opinions stated as facts. Like I said, it's okay to state opinions, make criticisms, and disagree with JB, or any of us. But this one post sounds like typical trolling to me. Like JB said, we'll "bide a wee", but I smell a rat.

To quote a hip dude in 1983, take a chill pill.

The evidence that I just gave is what I thought you wanted to hear. Instead, when I try and support my claim, you say it isn`t good enough and tell me that what I said is something that it isn`t.

Also, quit swearing, I can read that you`re angry and when a person is angry, they allow their emotions to get the best of them and logic goes the way of the dinosaurs. Am I saying that Alvin is correct in his claim? No, not really, but if a person says something negative, name-calling and threats aren`t going to help. Simply ignore what they said if it bothers you that much. By replying you are probably giving Alvin what he wanted, he wanted to cause a ruckus in a forum that at times seems to praise Mr. Byrne as a King among kings.

Thanks Dave, for at least seeing both sides of the argument. I`m just trying to see that this doesn`t become a verbal bloodbath and a do not enter site for people who have vague interest in byrne.

Todd,

Jay was swearing earlier in his last message. I just felt it was unnecessary.

Trevor, if you're refering to me telling Alvin to show that he's a Byrne fan, or be gone, that's simply the way it is. This is no place for people that want to come in and bash John Byrne, end of story. There are plenty of other boards that specialize in that. If you're a fan of what he's doing now, what he's done in the past, or like you say, "have a vague interest", you're more than welcome. Anyone that has an opinion is welcome to state that opinion, and we'll debate it. What I won't tolerate is trolling.

There are many words one could use to describe their impression of John, but IMHO "conceited" is not one of them.  A conceited person wouldn't spend as much time dealing with stupid questions and comments from Internet ne'er do wells as he does...nor would he be as generous with his time, unpublished artwork and opinions as he is.  Plus I've met him once and unless he was just having an unusually great day, he came across as a genuinely pleasant and sincere gentleman.  So there.

Behind closed doors, none of us can say.  All we can go on is what we got.

I'm waiting for the evidence where JB says he's hot shit and his work is beyond reproach...haven't seen that quote yet.

Dave,

I don`t take criticism well myself, but i was thinking that in the future, if you feel a person is here just to say negative things without backing, perhaps a warning system can take effect, or a deletion of the message, or an email to sender of the message, anything that covers up any people giving threats to that person for their opinion no matter how wacky that is. That`s a suggestion and I understand I don`t have much leverage to make change besides asking and I am rather inexperienced as a member but I have read the forum every so often as an outside viewer. You run the place, I just got two cents I`d like to put in the mechanical horse outside the grocery store, if you catch my drift. (man that was a long metaphor!)

I've never seen any sign that JB is conceited, but if someone's posted it on the Internet, it must be true.

Sigh...

Edited to add: HIS NEW STUFF IS BETTER.

Jay,

As I said earlier, I thought that stuff I gave you was good enough. If it isn`t for you, then oh well.
