Halle Berry, hmmmm. I noticed that, although filmmaking is a collaborative process in which many hands and minds are involved, in the case of certain movies only a particular group of people are singled out as the reason for particular films' failure, finacially or artistically. It's almost as if they're the... black sheep of the filmmaking community. |

Catwoman was not as bad as I thought. That said, it wasn't great, but it wasn't Halle's fault It was lousy writing, lousy story, lousy costume. And lets face it, like Elektra, we're not talking about an A list starring character. |

Why would an Academy Award-winning actress agree to star in a film production with no script written before the shooting started? She was terrific in Bulworth. I guess it must have been her agent's mistake.

It will not beat Batman. It may even wind up 4th out of 5 (or 6 if you
count the cartoon Mask of the Phantasm's puny take)
The media will proclaim how much better it did, unadjusted, because they
rarely take into account inflation. |

Stupid buzzkill.
Stupid inflation.
Stopping there.

Halle has made some bad movies or taking on some odd roles I would say. But, I guess she is looking to create a few iconic characters-the Bknd Girl Jinx, Storm, Catwoman.

Your not alone. I (we) are too.

THAT guy was a FREAK! And he was scary until they caught him in that net and he was just hanging there making idle threats.
Didn't Marilyn Manson say something to the effect that he was like the Child Catcher (Candy Man) from that movie?

From the Box Office Mojo web site, here's the box office performance of "Batman Begins" after one full week in theaters:
Domestic Total as of Jun. 22, 2005: $90,446,984
Overseas Total as of Jun. 22, 2005: $40,700,000
Worldwide Total as of Jun. 22, 2005: $131,146,984
If WB was indeed estimating a one-week domestic box office take of $85 million, as Zaki indicated above, then the film has overperformed nicely.
Bring on the sequel!

Good to hear that news, Glenn. Maybe they'll spend a little more promoting the film once they turn a profit. As I mentioned in another thread, so far I've seen only 2 commercials for the film on the major networks here in Seattle.

I think that "one week total" is 8 days if it includes Wednesday.
Either way, this weekend will tell the tale. The reviews for Bewitched are harsch. Herbie is getting mixed reviews. So Batman should get another #1 weekend.

Andrew-
OT, but you're in Seattle too? That makes two Andrews here on the board from Seattle! (Okay, I'm on Mercer Island, and check on the board when I'm at work in Bellevue, but close enough.)
I think, to avoid confusion, we should go by "Good Andrew" and "Bad Andrew."
I'll be "Bad Andrew." Heard that enough when I was a kid.

+++++++
When I was younger I couldn't sit through the appearance of the child catcher - I would have to get away from the screen...terrifying...mind you I was over it by the time I reached thirty....
