Major takeaway... WHO listens to this crap?? Surely it was all the usual lies and self-gratification.
A reality show produced just for the people who would believe it.
Glad I had something else to preoccupy me.

I checked various news sites this morning, expecting the usual roundup of fact checking. I found surprisingly little. Since I avoided watching the SOTU, as I usually do, I don’t know if this means Trump was unusually retrained.

JB: Likely that was ‘restrained’ but I much prefer the typo.

Since I never make mistrakes, clearly I meant “retrained”.I’m imagining extensive use of cattle prods.

It's the concept of 'unusual' retraining that's got me.

The BBC did a fact check article, but it did seem shorter than previous ones had been.

Donald gave a speech. Donald is orange. Have you ever had an orange ? Donald does not see that he is an orange. Donald believes he is a Genius.
Donald knows words and how to lie. Clever Donald. See the bruises, and the heavily redacted files..
Some of Donald's friends were very excited at his speech. See JD Vance.
Republicans are people who don't really like Donald. They would like him to disappear, but are afraid they'll lose their jobs. They bark like sealions waiting for fish. See the desperation.
Do you have an unnatural attachment to a dictator ?*
*satire - if it needs saying - in the style of the UK 'Janet & John' books for pres-schoolers. Seems to fit well with Drumpf.

At the risk of thread drift - the adult Ladybird books can be really funny, and Phil’s post would fit right in with those.
Edit for explanation - Ladybird books are early reader books, typically in a theme. For the past decade or so, there have been satirical version based on adult themes such as ‘the husband’, ‘the wife’ etc. the satire can be quite biting.
