JB: I’m reading the Alpha Flight By John Byrne Omnibus. It’s interesting to
read the early pre-series appearances in Hulk, Machine Man and Marvel
Two-In-One. I’ve never read the Hulk Annual you wrote with Roger Stern
and it was a nice surprise.

Some questions:

1) Were those appearances in Hulk, Machine Man and Marvel Two-In-One
intended in part to promote the forthcoming Alpha Flight series?

2) Assuming the omnibus contents are indeed comprehensive, it looks like
Sasquatch was front and center in almost all of the appearances that
weren’t in X-Men. Was Walt Langowski intended or seen as a potential
“star”?

3) I just reread the team’s first full appearance, and found Sasquatch’s
entrance to be the most effective, this barely-seen monster affably shaking
Wolverine like an infant. Was this monstrous scientist aspect inspired by
The Beast?

Same answer to all three questions: not as such.
