Can someone explain why my IMDb page opens with a list of projects I had nothing to do with?

No guesses, please.

You are listed as having created characters in these projects.

Note: anyone with a free IMDb account can click “Edit page” or “Add a new credit” on a film, show, or person’s page. See link.

Speaking as someone who watches the credits for these shows, your name does pop up as “Created by” every time characters like Amanda Waller and Silver Banshee are used. And Amanda Waller gets used a lot in DC animated series.

Marvel throws in “Special Thanks” any time a character or plot point is adapted from the comics in a movie or TV show.

It does look like someone has gone in and done some work on your profile JB.  I don't recall the last time I looked, but there wasn't a picture before that I remember.

Each credit does say for which character or characters you are listed for.

I sometimes forget the IMDb is barely a notch above Wikipedia.

A producer from England who shares my name and who has a few film credits also gets my credit* (and IMDB even gave him my birthdate) for my work on "With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story" documentary. I wrote to them years ago, and they didn't bother to do anything about it. I checked again fairly recently, and the other "Matt Hawes" has my credit, still.

*My credit on IMDB is for "comics provided by" nowadays. LOL! On the actual screen credit, it was something like "comic book research." I liked that one better. Heh. I didn't provide more than scans, as the producers relied on me for some information, and a YouTube video I created, which is what alerted them about me, served as inspiration for how they handled the graphics in a particular scene.

But, yeah... IMDB is as flawed as Wikipedia,

IMDB is terrible. An example of a good site gone down the drain.
