Do you not recognize the pencils? (Non-rhetorical.) Judging by clues in the comments, it's some sort of inking jam he got in on.

Welp, that would be one way not to get me to buy a John Byrne comic book.

Parts of Cyclops look Byrne-like.  Did he trace this from some Byrne page?

Focusing on Angel and Cyclops, I could have been fooled also - but no way would JB be drawing Wolverine's mask and claws like that.

Liefeld said someone else drew the bottom row of the figures to finish it but why would JB only pencil the top part of the X-Men drawing?

I agree, that's definitely not a JB drawn Wolverine.

I see that he thinks the pencil lines are there for guidance only.
I get inkers bring their own flair to the image, but this is pretty much a
redraw of the pencil art - whoever provided the pencils.

The colors seem reversed on Angel’s costume……?

A lot of it felt like 'swipes' but even the pencil lines feel a bit inconsistent. Like there are more hands involved?

Odd.

I am relieved it wasn't one of John's originals as I was horrified watching that.
