JB, who was usually in charge of the next issue blurbs at the end of each issue?

The writer. Most of what was attributed to the editor usually came from the writer.

I remember feeling somewhat disappointed to learn that the editors didn't actually write most of the footnotes, or nicknames* *'As seen in FONEBONE MAN # 8-Julie'**Not actually Julie, he just suggested I write this here-Rollickin' Roger Kaputnik'

Mostly it was the writers who handled the letter columns, too. I used to find it occasionally amusing to adopt an editorial voice and then “let John speak for himself.”

You did a balanced job of printing negative with positive. I remember one letter in Namor from a real numbskull who had a complaint that the art was bad because the Marrs twins looked odd with big lips and cleft chins (I paraphrase and my memory may not be 100%, but I do remember the guy was a fool!)

I based both Marrs twins on a pic I had seen of a guy in VOGUE. A very distinctive face. Acouple of years later I learned he was a porn star!

I'm currently reading the Wonder Woman Omnibus. So even when the editorial notes are "signed" by the editor (in this case, PK), that was still you, JB? Next thing you'll be telling me there's no Santa. Or Easter Bunny!!!

I recall certain writers like Mike W. Barr and Roy Thomas in their DC books signed of LoC responses with their initials letting the reader know it was them replying (that may also be because until circa 1987 they were their own editors as well).

I loved the old school things in Marvel comics, like the letters col, the bold, brash next issue blurbs, the Bullpen Bulletins (and, of course, the characters, story and art). Miss those comics!

I was thinking to ask Abrams if they’d be up for a special edition of ELSEWHEN on newsprint with a 4 color 32 line scan!
