I searched for the subject, and didn't find one, but the list of inductees was just announced: Congrats JB and the Pinis! My all time favorites.

Having met (and had breakfast with) Harvey Kurtzman a few decades back adds some luster to this award. Kind of like being presented with an Eisner after having met Will and even been complimented by him.

JB: What Harrison Ford dubbed the Geezer Award!

**

A colleague repeated another Harrison Ford quote to me about how selective he can be in his work now. He called these his "Harvest years."

Congratulations on your latest harvest, John.

There's room in your house for a tall rabbit, right, JB?

Congratulations, JB!

Lovely to see recognition for the Pini's too (I'm currently re-reading Elfquest: The Original Quest, which has been reprinted in hardcover with new colouring by Wendy).

The Eisner meeting will remain forever special in my memory. I was at my first San Diego Con in 1979, and at a gathering for pros I saw Will talking to a small group of people on the other side of the room. Okay, I had to introduce myself, right? So I took a moment to assemble myself and was about to head over when he crossed the room to introduce himself to me.

I admitted to being quite flabbergasted that he knew who I was. “Of course” he said. “I use your work in the courses I teach.”

I chuckled in a suitably self-deprecating fashion. “Do you show them my stuff and say ‘Don’t do this’?”

“Not at all,” he said. “You’re a master storyteller.”

Honestly, sometimes I wish I had retired right then!

Damn. I was expecting a good story, but that's far better than what I was imagining!
