"No plots from me!"

Interesting.  I thought issues #294 and #295 had you listed with "Story by" or "Plotted by" credits?  Am I mis-remembering, or was that quite a large fib from editorial at the time?

I DID get the anniversary issue. Based solely on the BWS cover. I don’t think
I’ve read it since I got it off the rack back in ‘86.

Brian, I'm pretty sure it was this one?

Haven't owned this in ages, but I'm certain I read that same interview, leading up the FF anniversary issue.  Can't see why it wouldn't be in this... with a cover by JB, no less!

Shaun - just checked!
In FF#294 JB is listed as Plotter.
In FF#295 JB is given a "Special thanks" credit.

And yes the JB interview was indeed in Marvel Age #37.
Cheers!

Crikey, this is bringing back memories.
JB just vanishing from Hulk and FF and the reboots of Superman, Batman
and Wonder Woman.
I remember that Comics Feature issue as well (and just look at how thin
Miller’s Batman is!)

I don’t think FF ever recovered from Byrne’s leaving, the stories just seemed
a mess.
Hulk took a while, but I liked what Peter David did with the character, but I
still wanted to see where JB was going to take the character.

So disappointed with how Superman went, and the pain it caused JB.
Generations, as mentioned in another thread, I’m much happier revisiting

Like Matt, I had read a few DC books in my 12 (or so) years of reading comics but I was pretty much a Marvel zombie. I knew George Perez had gone to DC but didn't start the New Teen Titans until issue 7 or 8. I was sad to see Mr. Byrne leave Marvel. I followed him to MOS/Superman and discovered that DC was not full of a bunch of lame characters (as I had always thought).

Notable Professionalism ALERT: That Marvel Age cover features an excellent drawings of Heather in the Guardian suit and Storm with a mohawk. No contrary personal feelings evident whatsoever. Even knowing how JB actually feels does not help my eye believe the artist didn't enjoy drawing this.

Marvel Comics’ 20th Anniversary (calendar) seems to have been more fun to draw by comparison...

Never realized until today how the villains, Dr. Doom and Doc Ock, are lurking in the background of that Marvel Age cover. I mean, I know I spotted them before, but it's their placement that's notable to me. It's "approaching doom," so to speak, or the "hidden threats." Heh.
