I absolutely loved the idea.

It enriched the Galactus as a force of nature, or Galactus as a concept part of his mythos.

Okay, I am going to toss this out there for our host and my fellow JBF members to chew on....

If Galactus appears differently to those who are looking at him, does the same effect hold true for his heralds?

If you are asking whether Galactus appears differently even to his different heralds, I would say -- yes.

If you are asking whether Galactus' heralds likewise appear different to others, I would say -- no.

The Heralds have been drawn—ahem—from Marvel’s seemingly inexhaustible supply of humanoid aliens. Examples of what I long ago dubbed “Central Casting Syndrome”. Like STAR TREK, STAR WARS and countless others, extraterrestrials mostly take the form of humans in make-up.

Even Galactus fit this bill originally, with his pre-cosmic form, Galen, sporting an odd haircut but otherwise looking like he could stroll down Park Avenue without turning heads. (Hey, I didn’t say my take on the character wasn’t a retcon, right alongside Zenn-La and Shalla Bal.)

Since we’ve seen that the Heralds of Galactus maintain their familiar forms even when cut off from his influence—the Surfer abandoned on Earth, for instance—we would be reasonably safe in assuming a WYSIWYG stance. When we look at the heralds, we see them as they are. Cosmically powered they may be, but not at the same level as their master.
