Even without the fantasy baseball projects (my list is a mile long), it's the things that were planned and were even announced but for whatever reason never came to market or arrived in a much changed configuration. Roger Stern & Frank Miller's Doctor Strange, Neal Adams' God Loves, Man Kills, Gerber & Miller's shared DC proposals, etc.
There's a small subset of Alan Moore proposals I'd have loved to see Alan Moore's versions of but came out under different hands; I could be misremembering this as a casual search didn't turn anything up, but I recall seeing reference to Moore & Gibbons' pitch for a Martian Manhunter project that sounded an awful lot like Gerard Jones & Eduardo Barreto's Martian Manhunter: American Secrets mini (which I did genuinely love), and it doesn't take much squinting to see how his Twilight of the Superheroes pitch morphed into Kingdom Come.
