Same question............................. Given that a definition of ironic is "happening in the opposite way to what was expected", and given that he died, in some parts of the world, on the same day as Easter, a holiday that celebrates rebirth after death, if not ironic, one could at least find it poignant the leader of the Catholic faith dies right after having celebrated said holiday. Not falling on my sword here, just explaining my original thinking, since asked. Maybe too much Catholic schooling on my part. Also, it's entirely possible that if they didn't roll him out to greet people and give service on the holiday he might not have passed so soon. They may have exhausted him.
