I know what you mean Darren as much as i loving doing it myself i sometimes hate the fact that i always want to include the small details :) sometimes i really back myself into a corner. Not wanting to shortcut when it isn't what i had in mind when i first set the design down.

It was Paul Neary who first pointed out to me that over detailing something can kill it but by providing "pockets" of well placed "detail" the eye will read more than is actually there. In the same way that watching movies where certain scenes are so cleverly "suggested" your memory almost convinces you that the "blanks" that it filled in -were- actually in the movie! ;-)

I've got a couple characters in mind.  Though I'm not sure which is more interesting.  One is a psychopathic mass-murderer with a god complex known as Divinity and the other is a technologically-enhanced despot who rules with an iron fist I've name Cetus.

Divinity:

Cetus:

Nice stuff Stephen. Would the villains be the central character? Like the first one best!

The central character would be a time traveler/scientist name Cameron Wolfe.  He would have a turn-of-the-century look very much inspired by Guy Pearce in The Time Machine.  I haven't done any sketches yet that would do the character justice yet.  I'll put something together soon to show you.

quick character sketch of Cameron Wolfe:

As the lone scriptwriter contributing to this studio, I can bring in my character STRONGARM. He's been drawn a couple of times (and even inked by Darren at one time!) but never pencilled well enough to be published. I still think the script for the first issue is great, and with the right penciller, it could go places.

Anyhow, here's the concept:

STRONGARM'S PREMISE
Lyndsey Harris has been living with her boyfriend Nick
for a year. A month ago, a fight resulted in a restraining
order and Lyndsey moving into a place of her own.

Her best friend, Rob Schulter, has been pining for her
all this time and asks her out. On his way to their first
date, he disappears.

It seems that Rob found a dead assassin's body
on the way to the date. The assassin's power came
from two vicious robotic arms implanted into his
real arms. Codenamed Project Gemini, the deadly
weapons were conceived by a shifty businessman
named Conner, working for the board of directors of
Translucent Corp., a research and development firm
with sinister dealings behind the scenes.

Rob comes across the body, but the arms have an
intelligence of their own and attack him, grafting
themselves to his hands and taking control of his mind.
With his last remaining sense of self, Rob heads to
Lyndsey's house (she has given up on him and gone
home), smashes through her bedroom window, and ides
in her arms.

Only he's not dead, or is he? The gloves' operating
system revives him, but how much of him is actually left?
Can she restore his humanity? Does she still love him,
disfigured as he is? Can he become a hero in his present
state of mind or would he kill people? And can he ever
take the arms off?

I think this "experiment" will work best if and only if new ideas
and concepts are introduced. Not to say that previous attempts
at creating stories and concepts are void but starting from a
"blank" sheet of paper would entice and stimulate the creative
juices.
No?
As far as a studio namer is concerned, i like 108, actually
anything with a number or obscure reference.
MAC

Tabula Rasa (sp?) Okay. New Hand so to speak.

Studio 108 then. All okay with that?

Okay, what would you expect if you saw a link somewhere that said "Founded on the John Byrne Forum, 'Studio 108' have a website here!"

When you went to the website, what would you expect to see?

What would we like to acheive with this experiment?
